View Full Version : Best domain auction site
thekia 11-09-2005, 04:30 AM Can someone recommend a good Domain auction site, I have a few domains I want to auction off. I am using them but few I am closing down and the rest I am not going to use for a couple of years and would like to lease out if possible.
If you are recommending please also indicate if you have used their services.
Thank You.
empresasdehosting 11-09-2005, 04:36 PM www.afternic.com, very good service :)
dmaven 11-09-2005, 04:39 PM Sedo is one of the more popular ones
SinghandSons 11-10-2005, 02:31 PM Sedo may be popular, but has anyone sold anything?
nameslave 11-10-2005, 02:53 PM Sedo may be popular, but has anyone sold anything?
They have a list of recent sales right on their home page.
dmaven 11-10-2005, 04:37 PM I think dnjournal also lists recent sales to give you an idea of what brokers are doing
SinghandSons 11-10-2005, 05:16 PM namelave, i only see a dozen sale out of the millions of domain nmaes.
dmaven, please post the full address
:)
The Stealthy One 11-10-2005, 06:04 PM I have used GoDaddy's TDNAM (http://www.tdnam.com) service and was not at all impressed. I had about twenty domains for sale in many different categories, and for many of them I had upgraded to the top premium positions. Not a single one ever sold.
thekia, if you wish to auction off domain names, I would recommend eBay. Perhaps surprisingly, I have had alot of success with domain names there.
SinghandSons 11-10-2005, 06:14 PM lots of success, mind telling me approx when, please
The Stealthy One 11-10-2005, 06:19 PM What do you mean?
SinghandSons 11-10-2005, 06:26 PM You said you've had a lot of success at e-bay. Approximately when was this, i.e renctly or a long time ago and did you realize your price?
Thanks
The Stealthy One 11-10-2005, 09:14 PM Oh, yes. That was indeed recently - a few weeks ago - and I did indeed make near what I wanted. Remember that unless you have a killer domain name, you won't make too much more than mid-XX's to low XXX's, which is what I pulled. Good luck with your auction, whomever you choose! :)
Priyanka 11-10-2005, 10:07 PM Hi thekis,
Check out this thread
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=319388
It's about Dnthrifty.com,domain auction site, a sister site of WHT.
Bashar 11-10-2005, 11:09 PM Sedo may be popular, but has anyone sold anything?
sold and bought hundreds myself ;)
cedced 11-11-2005, 01:07 AM use sedo.com
etechsupport2 11-11-2005, 08:05 AM I think sedo is leading online market place for selling and buying domain name with largest database, if I am not wrong.
SinghandSons 11-11-2005, 04:24 PM you could be right - imo, you have just as much chance of selling your site/domain name by putting up a message in the back of your car window and driving around on you daily business, or park somewhere where there is heavy traffi and hopefully someone will link to your name later and buy
thekia 11-12-2005, 02:49 PM so sedu seems to be the one most recommend. I will try it.
thekia 11-12-2005, 02:55 PM I will try both afternic and sedo, will post when I get some results. I will spread it out 50/50.
SinghandSons 11-12-2005, 04:23 PM thekia, I look forward to the result.
Can you tell me what names you are selling and I will predict a price?
1stanbul 07-12-2009, 07:48 AM I have tried almost every auction sites including Ebay, Sedo, and TDNAM. What I ended up at all of them was loss of money. I figured out later that the important thing is not list your domain in those famous places but to make people see that your domain name is for sale.
I am now listing all my domain names at sell.your.name for free of charge. Parking is also free. I have parked my domain do.main.name there and when someone types my link or clicks on it, the visitor is directed to my auction page.
I recommend listing all your domains at sell.your.name for free. You have nothing to lose but at least by parking them you can also track how many visitors visited your domain name.
Best
LogicExpert 07-12-2009, 03:17 PM Yes I like the DNJournal as a reference for one great reason they show who which company is selling the higher priced domain names but you can use that same information to see who, which domain name selling operator is making the most sells, then go and place your domain names for sale there. It worked well for us.
Note I do not like selling domain names we have been lucky to acquire.
RedRocketDomains 07-13-2009, 12:48 PM What about SnapNames? Has anyone had a good experience with them?
Dhaval 07-13-2009, 04:23 PM domaintools and sedo are nice place
Veerhost 07-13-2009, 11:53 PM indeed, sedo.com is ok!!
RedRocketDomains 07-14-2009, 12:18 PM I would like to try selling on Sedo but am afraid my name may sit forever. Has anyone tried the PushToAuction service? Any input on that is appreciated.
Dhaval 07-14-2009, 04:03 PM Well, I never took part in the live auction at sedo but domaintools have nice auctions.
CLCook 07-14-2009, 07:41 PM I sold one on sedo.com a few months ago. I've found it useful for higher-priced domains.
Looking for a good $XXX range site.
raja314 07-14-2009, 08:21 PM Sedo, Afternic etc are only good for high quality domains. It really depends on the quality of the domains you are selling. If they are of low quality try selling on forums.
Also i found flippa.com useful for selling medium and high quality domains
Clayton 07-14-2009, 08:45 PM I go through sitepoint for selling my domains/websites.
muzik 07-15-2009, 06:47 AM Use sitepoint and digitalpoint....they are famous forums where you can sell your domain. thanks.
staffjam 07-15-2009, 02:35 PM Sedo is the best by far in my opinion - good support and good escrow process.
alamperti 07-16-2009, 10:49 AM sedo, but also tdnam, pool, namejet and bido.
Dhaval 07-21-2009, 08:54 PM I agree. sitepoint and digitalpoint forums are the best place to sell your domains. You can also consider dnforums
xpertsalman 12-20-2011, 12:35 PM I recommend Namejet, sedo and tdnam.
Jerrick 12-20-2011, 09:04 PM godaddy auction and sedo lead the larger market of selling domain in auction .
