View Full Version : yahoo domains for $2.99
johana 11-08-2005, 09:02 PM Hello,
I have about 100 domains from yahoo.
I am starting my domain business.
Just today I stoped and start thinking...
When I buying domains from yahoo on the top of the price there is number 1 .
I am only registering domains without any plan or hosting.
Will I have to pay later more money for my domains what I already registered for $2.99.
I looked and there is no other price offered.
Like today, only price you can register domain on yahoo is $2.99.
This same time that number 1 stands for somethink.
I am confused!
Will my registration prices will be raised on 2006?
Please help me understand.
Thank-you for your time!

Bashar 11-08-2005, 09:08 PM i think its a special offer that might go back to 9.99 in few months or so
why not have a reseller account and you can get domains for $7-8 each all the time ?
there is many offers that can provide u that rate if you wish to prepay for 100 domains
johana 11-08-2005, 09:36 PM Hello.
The main think is that I do not have any other options on Yahoo.
If I would like to pay regular price of $9.99, I can not do it.
The only price I am offered is $2.99.
If thay will bring the prices to the $ 9.99 on the same domains I registed for $2.99, that would be against the law...becouse I did not have option of any other amount...
I registed domains on yahoo only because of low $2.99.
Can I reregister my domains with other domain company?
Thank-you for your time!

eConcept 11-08-2005, 09:46 PM yes you can, it's a transfert ;)
Techno 11-08-2005, 11:10 PM The domains will be automatically renewed by Yahoo, using your credit card on file, one month before they expire, at the current price at that time. Regular price is $9.95 but you might be lucky and they may be running another $2.99 promotion when you renew. You have the option to transfer out to another registrar (and paying to extend the registration for another year), before the 11th month.
I believe there $2.99 states it is for new registrations only and not renewals. Likely you will be charged the normal rate next year. The current price is $2.99, so if you register a name for 1-5 years you get that price per year. If you only register a name for one year, then next year the current rate will apply. Below is from their TOS.
4.6 Price Changes
Yahoo may, upon notice required by applicable laws, at any time change the amount of or basis for determining any fee or charge or institute new fees or charges with respect to the Service. Upon renewal, as provided in Section 5.1, the prices charged may be changed without notice to the then prevailing price for the Services.
i think its a special offer that might go back to 9.99 in few months or so
I believe it says it will expire at 11:59:59 on 12/31/2005
johana 11-09-2005, 12:29 AM Thank-you !!!
It was big help!!!!!!!
So, if I registered domain on October 25, 2005, will I have to pay rest of the money on 11:59:59 on 12/31/2005 just after two months of registration.
Or, just after regular 11th month about 10/25/2006?
I am selling my domains,- can I sell my domains with yahoo registration?
Thank-you for your time!

Techno 11-09-2005, 12:40 AM You have paid $2.99 for 1 year. You don't have to pay any more. At the end of a year you can renew with yahoo at thier rate at that time, or renew with a different registrar.
johana 11-09-2005, 12:49 AM Big thank-you!!!

nameslave 11-09-2005, 11:13 AM I have about 100 domains from yahoo.
I am starting my domain business.
Sorry for being nosy, but I'm really curious what kind of "domain business" are you thinking of starting? ;)
johana 11-09-2005, 01:00 PM Hello,
I never buy lottery tickets because of odds.
I register domains for 2.99 and then try to sell the same domains for more money...
I never sold anythink yet.
But I think domain business is better than lottery tickets because you are playing with the same domains for $2.99 day after day...
I simply weekly invest $2.99...

Disgruntled 11-09-2005, 04:38 PM If you are going to transfer you should do it before the expiration date. If you wait until the last minute, it may auto renew, or it may expire. Expiration is worse. Far from freeing it up, it actually can tie it up while the registrar puts it up for bid.
You can transfer after 60 days from the time you last registered or transferred. You do not lose money by transferring the registry. If you have registered for a year and transfer requesting a year of service, the new registrar will give you an expiration date one year after the first expiration date, [i]i.e. two years from the date you first registered, and normally they will only charge you for a year.
If you bought sevices like privacy protection, the same deal does not apply. You would lose any unused portion of the privacy service you bought from Yahoo. If you want privacy protection from the new registry, they won't give you the remaining part of the year free, but will probably prorate it.
Before transferring be sure that your whois data shows a functional email address that won't be distroyed by the transfer. You will probably need it to confirm the changes. If your email address on file is privacy protected, check the options in your privacy protection. You may need to disable privacy (which makes the address on file vulnerable to spammers), or you may be able to turn on forwarding (which will forward all the spam, but won't give the spammers your on-file address). The new registrar will be using whatever address is displayed in the whois for confirmation, because they assume that is under the control of the registrant and not someone trying to steal your domain.
johana 11-09-2005, 05:51 PM Hello,

fewcoin 11-09-2005, 05:59 PM I just completed some transfers from Yahoo and everything went smoothly. Don't forget, they renew one month before expiration so I would do it much before then.
There's a thread about going into your Yahoo account after the transfer is completed and cancelling the account.
I did this so they don't charge you for renewal. (even though the name is already transferred).
Remember about unlocking the domain.

johana 11-09-2005, 08:47 PM Hello,
That was a good point about cancelling the account after the transfer!
I would never think of that!

johana 11-12-2005, 09:00 PM Hello,
Hello,
I have seen that on yahoo often.
I know it is yahoo because with the same caredit card i could register domains with other company without a problem.
Try it yourself.
Just for the fun try buying the same domain from other company.
That was the reason I used not only yahoo for my domain registration!
ronaldo99 11-14-2005, 09:20 AM Hi,
I am looking for my first domain name. First time I will use my card to buy smth on internet.
A question :
When ordering why is required to give Billing Address for a VISA card. Why do they need the address ?
Tks
johana 11-14-2005, 09:39 AM Hello,
It is just for the first time.
It is not for your viza, but for your domain.
Correct address is a must for any domain you register.
