Is it possible to create sub-domains in Ensim? I've been looking through some of the archives and I'm confused as to whether this is possible or not.

well, how about emailing them and asking?

well, i did some digging around, and there is no control panel feature for this... what you could do though is, manually edit the httpd.conf file...

We allow subdomains on all our Ensim servers.
This is very easy and there's not really need for any UI.
What we do is add a wildcard entry to our DNS for each domain (if your DNS are on the same machine, I suspect there's a way to create a custom zone file that Ensim will re-use).
Then, create a custom template file for your virtual sites configuration file and using mod_rewrite you can for instance decide that subdomains will be automatically redirected to your site's users home directory.

Thats all well and good except that it creates more work for the host instead of less. Why not just put it in the control panel?

Well said! You have to manually do it for the customer everytime.

Perhaps this is a feature that will be introduced in 3.1? Or maybe not.

I'm considering trashing my ensim server and getting a plain installation with cpanel... doesn't cpanel allow adding subdomains via the ui?

I'd wait for the new version of Ensim that should be out any day now. They promise a lot of new features, and from the rumours I've been hearing subdomains could quite possibly be one of these new features. I know they're adding a third level, thus making the CP reseller friendly...
