View Full Version : Is EOT a viable add-on to control panels?

This is not meant for self-promotion...

Very recently I launched my EyesOnTraffic (EOT) site. EOT is a webmaster tool used to monitor site traffic in real time. I'm bundling free hosting with it, and I guess I'll see soon enough how well it is received. Early response has been encouraging.

Question : Looking at it on a larger scale, I see everything from Webalizer to shopping carts to discussion forum scripts bundled into control panels that are used/offered by web hosts to their customers.

I'd appreciate your opinion on the idea of "bundling" EOT into existing control panels out there. As web hosts, would you consider EOT to be a value-added product that you could offer your customers?

Is trying to incorporate it into control panels the way to go? Instead, is there any merit to looking to partner directly with participating web hosts and providing EOT (bulk rate) on a per customer basis?

I'm trying to look at all my marketing options. Relating to web hosts, I figure there's no better place to ask than here at WHT.

Any wisdom would be appreciated.

In another thread, I just read a post by one of the mods:

"Participants may not use the forum to publish or discuss any information regarding their product or services, or future (possible) products or services, or any product or services they are, or have been, associated with. This includes, but not limit to suggesting your own services, or services of partners or family."

If my original post is contrary to the rules, delete it. Although I am not really promoting anything at this point. I'd just like to know if this could be a viable product for hosts to offer their customers.

If the thread stays, I really would appreciate some thoughts on this, good or bad.

Thanks.

You stress too much that its not self promotion. I dont like the idea of adding too much weight to a control panel. I like to keep it simple. Webalizer is free and good enough. If webmasters want realtime stats, they can always add it on later.

Sorry if I overdid it. I just want to make sure I'm just looking for comments, not orders...

I appreciate your comments.

Oh well, I'll assume from the lack of response to this thread that this is not a product that I should develop to be offered by web hosts. :(
I'll just continue with my original marketing plan and offer directly to the end user.

Thanks anyways. (although even some negative feedback would have been welcome...)

I think it could be a nice optional service or upgrade for host/webmasters to offer customers. Would depend on pricing and how it is intergrated into a hosting system.

I'm still fuzzy on how it would be integrated into a plan for hosts. It is set up right now for use by end users only.

If it were to be offered to hosts for resale, it would take considerable modification (and expense) to my setup for it to work. That's why I'm trying to get a feel about if it is a worthwhile avenue to pursue.

Since EOT works off a database on my server, I suspect a straight affiliate arrangement would work best. A host refers a customer to sign up, and the host gets paid for the signup as well as a monthly residual for as long as the account stays active.

The residuals, I think, are the key incentive for hosts. With a few referal signups, monthly residuals could add up to a tidy sum every month...for no work involved.

Thanks for your input, Lone Starr.
Any other comments are welcome.

Umm, unfortunately I think you misunderstood what EOT does. It does not monitor your bandwidth. It monitors real time activity on your site. And, at this point anyways, stats are not cumulative. It does not compile stats in report form.

But I'm glad you like it. :)

I realized right after I posted that I misunderstood your product so I tried to delete the post immediately, but the DELETE NOW button would not work for me.
