For those who travel, I am wondering which/what ISP you use for laptops? Thanks :)

BTW, palm/cingular vs. ISP fees for laptops, which is cheaper?

Prodigy has a 1-800 number for access that is $6 per hour. I travel to some fairly remote spots, and if you can dial a 800 number, it works. Obviously, I wouldn't do a lot of surfing at those rates, but for picking up mail, and a quick check of my forums, it works great. In almost all the other cities I visit, their local numbers work just fine.

Does a laptop require any special hardware (other then a modem) when used from a motel room?

I have a fairly old laptop, but it works just fine from all the places I stay with just it's built in modem. Be sure to get a long phone cord extension, though. Some of the phone jacks are next to the beds, and not near the table, which is where you really need them. Good luck with your travels.

if you really want to get techincal, you can go over to like myown888 and get a toll free number @ 4.5 cents/minute. Then, set up a modem on a the same line that you point your toll free number too. Now, you may need some sort of switch, ive used different ones that have spots for serial hook ups to modems.

Its pretty inexpensive, and you get a dedicated line and pay only your 4.5 cents/minute.

I travel sometimes, and its the best way to go to avoid large fees.
