Acsiak - Andrew 11-02-2005, 09:03 AM Are you sure you want to be spending so little on your domains?
The cheapest I knew of was EV1Servers, although as far as I'm aware they are no longer accepting new orders. Other than that the cheapest I know of is GoDaddy, but they're $6.95 which is more than you're willing to pay.

dmaven 11-02-2005, 12:05 PM Cost to all registrars is 6.25 not including CC fees, staff, insurance etc. If they are selling below the registrar is losing money
saman123 11-02-2005, 03:00 PM I chat with the online help of ehostgroup. one representative told me that they sell for that proce only for limited time
Thanks
saman123 11-02-2005, 03:06 PM Sorry, they dont sell domain names only for $5. It is only a bonus offer along with a web hosting plan.
dmaven 11-02-2005, 03:13 PM This would make sense, the hosting would make up their loss.
LexTalionis 11-02-2005, 03:55 PM Most registrars have additional time related product that will reduce the price, like add email accounts, hosting, whois privacy, etc. But that just means you pay more per month, unless you cancel them.
whatever 11-02-2005, 04:06 PM 1and1 sells domains all day, every day for $5.50 (although they do loose money simply for brand awareness).

They sell for $5.99
hostlander 11-04-2005, 11:32 AM Yes it may compansate with a hosting plan only
sauer38h 11-04-2005, 08:16 PM $4.00 domains work fine, so I imagine $5.00 ones might too. Renewals will cost more, though, maybe $8 or $9.
The Stealthy One 11-12-2005, 01:35 PM Yes, generally when you see such a low-cost domain, it is because a hosting plan or something else must be purchased with it.
The only exception to this that I have found is with Yahoo!. Their current deal does not require you to purchase anything else to go alongside the domain name.

I think their $2.99 deal was for only one domain though, and renewing would cost the normal price.
The Stealthy One 11-12-2005, 01:43 PM Perhaps so, but it's still a good deal.
For instance, I registered a .com name for 5 years for $14.95. Even if it is regular price after that, it's still a long time off! :)
Dave Zan 11-12-2005, 08:00 PM Let's face it: many people will always think they're doing themselves a great job if
they get a domain name from a provider who charges less than $6 per year. Then
if they encounter a complex problem or 2, they'll start blaming the provider without
truly understanding how they work or how things work in the industry.
It's so much easier buying a domain name for $6 or less and blaming the provider
for any unforseen problems.
