I have a business customer in europe that is wanting an invoice for the hosting account i have provided. I have sent him an invoice through paypal with the business name billing info and he is not satified with this. He also wants my ssn I do business currently as company name dba as a sole proprietor (until i can go llc)

Perhaps this is a miscommunication I am just looking for some tips or anyone who has dealt with euro business. This is a very important client and has great potential I do not want to make a mistake here.

I'm not sure what you mean here, Your client wants an invoice right? Just download a Word template add your logo and contact details to it and send it to him.....

Do you use a billing system like Modernbill at all? If you do its much easier he could just login and print the invoice himself.

FlightLizard,

Assuming you don't have a billing system already installed, maybe you should look into one as most systems automatically invoice the client with a pre-made template with all the neccessary/required info. This is much easier and responds much faster rather than sending an invoice manually. I would advise you not to give him your SSN as this can lead to fraud, but rather a mailing address and or phone number or something to give him a sense of security.

I hope I understood your situation correctly.

When it comes to an invoice, in my opinion you do need something a bit more professional than PayPal. And, like the others, I believe you should get some sort of billing software which can automatically create invoices or allows you to manually create them.

For my billing software I use 2ndSite. It's great, saves costs, and gives a lot more flexibility than the other well known billing systems. It also creates very professional invoices which can be printed off by the client, or you can print it off and then fax it.

When he talks about your SSN, are you sure he doesn't just want your VAT or tax registration or something similar?

This is likely the case. There is no reason why anyone needs your Social Security Number for *anything*, unless they are a US government organization, etc.

Your client is probably looking for your business registration number, or tax registration number or something similar. (This is normal, since in many countries it is mandatory to include such numbers in the invoice.)
