Dear WHT friends,

I would like to seek your help to resolve a nameserver problem I am facing.

I have a .de domain with wildwildwestdomains
My client's domain: DJADDA.DE is giving me some problems when I try to update the nameservers to ns1.globzmedia.biz
-Currently, I am using the Control panel from WildWildWestDomains to update the nameservers.
-The problem is I just cannot 'save' the new nameservers to ns1.globzmedia.biz and ns2.globzmedia.biz
-Previously when I first registered this domain for my client, I ALSO experienced the SAME problem when I could not update the nameserver to ns.globzmedia.COM (my current vanity nameserver at CIhost)
-As a result, I had to use the nameserver at CIhost (NS.PROPAGATION.NET and NS2.PROPAGATION.NET) to resolve this issue.
-----------------

Is the .de domain special?
I can update all my other .com, .net(eg. bestbudgetsg.com) domains to my nameserver: ns1.globzmedia.biz + ns2.globzmedia.biz but not this .de domain

Appreciate your kind advice as I DESPARATELY need to migrate this .de domain to my New Server ASAP! (and to do that: I must update the nameservers!)

Thanks
Derrick

.DE is very specific on nameserver requirements. Each nameserver must be in an entirely different sub class. If not it will fail

Thanks dmaven for the reply.

Yes: I understand the 1st digits of the IP of the nameservers must be different + I understand that (ns1.globzmedia.biz and ns2.globzmedia.biz) have the same 1st digits.

However, the mystery is that the current nameservers (ns.propagation.net and ns2.propagation.net) have the SAME 1st digits and it works PERFECTLY!

PS: I used 'nslookup' in WinXP to get the above IP addresses.

*Anyone can help me solve this mystery??? I need to change the nameservers to ns1.globzmedia.biz and ns2.globzmedia.biz in order to migrate this domain!*

thanks so much
Derrick

I think I had some experience with the .ch domain too. Try to use the nameservers given to you by the upstream provider. Some have ns1.usersdns.com or something of this form.

Try it.

Nothing to do with first digits. The IP addresses need to be on different blocks, and these two are not.

ns1.globzmedia.biz is 64.38.2.138.
ns2.globzmedia.biz is 64.38.2.139

You CANNOT host .de domains on these two servers. The third part of the IP address needs to be different. You cannot use two IP addresses starting in 64.38.2.

As lubeca pointed out you would not be able to host a .de name using these two server alone.
