Godaddy $8.95 NameCheap $8.88 Abu Mami 04-19-2002, 06:30 AM reg2c.com is the cheapest (6.95 I think), but they don't have all the features included in the price. Namecheap is my favorite of the cheapies. JedKent 04-19-2002, 11:46 AM NameCheap is definitely the best. It's cheap, and it has all of the options you'll ever need :) Acroplex 04-19-2002, 03:39 PM Stargate.com is excellent, with $8.95 per 2 or more domains, and if you buy a small bulk plan the price is only $8. phptalk 04-19-2002, 07:05 PM opensrs.com, 7.90 for 10 domain pre-payment! greggish 04-20-2002, 01:23 AM Originally posted by phptalk opensrs.com, 7.90 for 10 domain pre-payment! Could you please link me to the page on OpenSRS that has that price? Because the cheapest I see on the site is $10/domain with a prepayment of 25 domain years ($250) viGeek 04-20-2002, 01:24 PM godaddy.com just started using them over dotster. lots of good featuers, and you save $6 over dotster each time. nice SI-Chris 04-20-2002, 04:57 PM Originally posted by phptalk opensrs.com, 7.90 for 10 domain pre-payment! joelmoss 04-20-2002, 06:32 PM Originally posted by phptalk opensrs.com, 7.90 for 10 domain pre-payment! What, where, tell me, tell me... MSSTATEBDFAN 04-20-2002, 09:02 PM I would recommend GoDaddy. They have the best customer support! They reply to all support questions within 6 hours. The main thing about GoDaddy is they are also ICAN accreditied. I couldn't be happier, and know that my domain names are in good hands! Just a happy customer ;) maxbear 04-20-2002, 11:29 PM I love powerpipe.com 7.99 only. Best of all, they are the reseller of enom, you can use their DNS services easily. Acroplex 04-20-2002, 11:32 PM I tried Powerpipe's WHOIS yesterday and all I can say is that it's using cached info. smacx 04-20-2002, 11:46 PM I love dotster, they charge 14 or seomthing, I have 15 or so domains with them and everything is completly automatic, you never have to talk to support, but when you do they are speedy. maxbear 04-21-2002, 08:43 AM I don't know whether powerpip use cache info. May be yes in their whois. Actaully, all my domains are registered with powerpipe. I don't even need a dns server becasue all domains are using their dns server. Their easy web interface can let you change your domain info or mail forwarding at any time you want. Abu Mami 04-21-2002, 10:10 AM Originally posted by maxbear I don't even need a dns server becasue all domains are using their dns server. Umm, is this because you're using URL forwarding, or do they really provide name server services? Hard to believe. dgessler 04-21-2002, 10:37 AM Check out the cheapest registrar :D: www.indyadomain.com - $6.25/yr, and to my knowledge no real catch besides they don't accept CC's. To what I've heard thier customer service does exist.. Maybe someone wants to try them out and report back how the service was. I don't know what thier business plan will be, making a $.25 profit on a domain sold..hmmm.. thewitt 04-21-2002, 10:50 AM Originally posted by dgessler [clip]I don't know what thier business plan will be, making a $.25 profit on a domain sold..hmmm.. Actually, that's $0.25 gross margin, not profit... -t Chicken 04-21-2002, 02:29 PM indyadomain.com is a STARGATE reseller? Tis is quite cheap (their whois info is a bit limited however, which doesn't thrill me). VoxKeysGtr 04-21-2002, 02:47 PM I have used both powerpipe and godaddy. I have transferred domain names between them just to see how difficult the process was, and I did not have any problems with either one of them. Currently, though, the edge would go to Powerpipe because they have dropped their prices. Keep in mind, however, that powerpipe is a reseller for enom, and godaddy is not. It is an accredited ICANN registrar in its own right. That might be worth paying an extra dollar for to some people. That said, though, I'm currently using powerpipe for my domains. ;) Acroplex 04-21-2002, 02:51 PM Originally posted by Chicken indyadomain.com is a STARGATE reseller? VoxKeysGtr 04-21-2002, 02:52 PM I was just checking out the indyadomain site and i did a sample search this is what I got... Could Not Connect To Server: Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /home/indyakar/public_html/check.php on line 16 I got this over and over again. I guess the .25 cent margin doesn't go far enough to hire people to fix the servers and stuff... :) Just kidding guys...don't flame me. I know it's just probably a temporary thing. I just thought it was funny... Acroplex 04-21-2002, 02:53 PM Same here :D That's gonna keep their mySQL busy :D maxbear 04-21-2002, 08:33 PM Hi Abu Mami, Yes, they really provide you DNS services. They are the reseller of enom and they use enom DNS server. There are total 5 DNS servers from enom around the world. Even one of them is not working others will take up the jobs. It's more reilable if you host DNS server of yourself and it will sure to have less trouble. brandon 04-22-2002, 01:41 AM Check out the cheapest registrar : www.indyadomain.com - $6.25/yr, and to my knowledge no real catch besides they don't accept CC's. I took a look at the "url forwarding" setting section in Namecheap, and it sure looks like I've got full DNS capabilities there. Is this true? Does that mean I can use the enom name servers instead of hosting the name server on my box? I think I'm getting a headache, too much to absorb. MotleyFool 04-25-2002, 05:40 AM Hey Abu and other friends, Registerfly, Namecheap,123domainregistry.com [India], powerpipe [dont know about them as their site talks of DirectSRS]are all resellers of enom. When you register a domain with them you choose a password, and once your creditcard is processed you dont even need to go to their site anymore Just go to http://access.enom.com and type the domainname as the user name and the password you use, and voila you are into enom's DNS control panel! I do this for all my domains and I have never ever found enom's DNS servers to be down Today I had a stargate reseller contacting me [I didn't mind the SPAM ;)] and offered 10 domains for 7.10$ each I am also looking at directi.com for domain reselling Cheers Balaji Abu Mami 04-25-2002, 06:01 AM Originally posted by MotleyFool Just go to http://access.enom.com and type the domainname as the user name and the password you use, and voila you are into enom's DNS control panel! Hey Balaji, how're you doing? Thanks for the tip. I was aware that Namecheap was an enom reseller - for that's a plus. But, I wasn't aware that I could access my domains (from different resellers) via access.enom.com. I'll have to try that. Basically, I don't have any problem using Namecheaps site. But this might help me consolidate all my enom domains since I have a few at resellers other than Namecheap. Anyhow, thanks again for pointing this out. no-one 04-26-2002, 07:00 AM Originally posted by MotleyFool Hey Abu and other friends, Registerfly, Namecheap,123domainregistry.com [India], powerpipe [dont know about them as their site talks of DirectSRS]are all resellers of enom. Cheers Balaji Thanks for enlightening us on that I tried this with my account at Registerfly but it didn't work Perhaps Registerfly has reseller accounts with another registrar also Thanks nox 04-26-2002, 08:22 AM Originally posted by no-one Thanks for enlightening us on that I tried this with my account at Registerfly but it didn't work Perhaps Registerfly has reseller accounts with another registrar also Thanks Many Enom resellers create their own interface and unless they give/set an enom password for your domain, you won't get in through access.enom.com.. you can however ask enom if they will give you a password, and if you prove you own the domain, then you can get at your DNS/whois info etc.. just do a whois lookup for your domain and you'll see who the ICANN registrar is.. no secrets there.. Chicken 04-26-2002, 09:46 AM Originally posted by timechange Chicken, where did you read that they are a Stargate reseller? Didn't read it... that's where their (indyadomain) is registered, so I figure that's who they're with. Has anyone registered a domain with indyadomain so I can run a check on it? John-Kevin 04-26-2002, 04:29 PM Gandi.net is also a good registrar that offers many features. Godaddy.com is the best. prices go down a lot when you register for 2, 3, 4, 5 6 years. Godaddy signed up far too many customers over the past months and their customer service with real human beings has slowed down a lot :o |
