Can anyone suggest any content management systems to me?

I have an e-zine and will be publishing articles, commentary, images, etc. NO other users, besides myself, will be adding content to site. Besides it being free, here is what I'm looking for/need:

1. PLAIN installation instructions (I'm not a techie), from beginning to end..no assumptions made about user knowing which directory to upload program to via FTP, and starting from Step 2 or 3, LOL. Everything should be "broken down to the lowest common denominator". :D

2. Read Me/Install instructions MUST match Read Me/Install instructions on developer's website...I've had too many cases of the website and unzipped docs saying different things...

3. SIMPLE install procedure. I CANNOT and don't know how to create a database from the command line...My host has us set up databases easily from control panel. I can do a chmod, though.

4. Must have support forum, at least.

5. Can have templates, but don't REQUIRE you to use one of theirs. I have a design for my site. I just need to update text and position images. Bells and whistles are good, but I don't want to HAVE to use them.

Thanks in advance!

I've just started playing with phpWebThings (http://www.phpdbform.com). Clean design, easy to install and use, and themes are fairly easy to build (not for me however, I'm not too artistic).

I've looked at a lot of different CMS packages over the last several months. There are so many it can really drive you nuts checking them all out. phpWebThings for some reason struck me as the best fit for me.

Try http://www.postnuke.com/ It has an installer and got support too. You can change themes, install additional modules like picture gallery, events calendar, etc.

If you need help let me know.;)

Thanks! I'm going to check them out and see what they are saying on their site. How easy was it to install? Everything I've tried so far has failed installation...and I read every word of the instructions THOROUGHLY before, during, and even after trying to install. I'm finding that these programmers are leaving too many LITTLE details out of the instructions...and I'm not even going to break my neck trying to figure stuff out. If they can't make it plain, I'll keep on moving until I find someone who will. :)

Thanks, again!

Thanks for responding! I did try PostNuke, but it failed installation. I did everything the instructions said to do, but it still didn't work. So, I'm passing it by. Besides, the program is just HUGE.

I'm convinced that these programmers are NOT thinking about the "average Joe" when they create these programs. Oh well. I'll find something, or I'll just default to regular old HTML...I've lost a couple of days off of my schedule, already because of this. :bawling:

:D

Thanks!

No thank you Dezina :) But, thanks for bringing your service to my attention. :)

I'm not looking for anything I have to pay for...there's plenty of free stuff out there...I just have to find the right program...

I think I'm going to have to try some of the un-rated programs listed at places like HotScripts.

What's nice about this package is that it isn't HUGE like the Nuke series. Personally I think all those Nuke packages are pretty interesting, they just seemed too, well too something to me. Big? Complex? Unwieldy? Not sure what it was that turned me off from them, but phpWebThings is just such a nice clean package.

Good luck
