Hello,

If you have more than one server, and offer access to a server-wide certificate on your plans, how do you manage this? Do you purchase a certificate for every server and setup secure1.xxx.com secure2.xxx.com etc.?

It sure seems like there could be a better solution than to have to buy a cert for every server... Like, just setting up one secure server and when someone wants access to it, just setup an account on it for them.

What do you guys do?

Thanks!

Usually, companies offer a shared directory that is only accessable using https. Example:

https://secure.name.com/yahoo/

where secure.name.com is a domain name that is secured with certificate from Geotrust, Verisign or Thawte and yahoo is the name of the client that owns this directory. You also get full access to upload your files to this secure directory and execute scripts :)

This is the best and cheapest method and a lot of providers use it :) Hope this helps

I wasn't very clear in my original post. What I am wondering is this: How do the people with multiple servers offer shared SSL for each of their clients on seperate servers? Do they buy multiple certificates? (This would be the easiest, but most expensive way). At first it may not seem like too much (only $125/year per certificate), but when you get up to 10 or 20 servers, that's $1250 and $2500 /year respectively.
