ADDR is really nice, except it's pretty heavy with graphics. Fine for me, i'm on cable, but I feel sorry for the dialup users.

Hostrocket is good, fastwebsites is good. They were designed by Pixelbrick though, so you have to expect something exceptional for the price paid.

IMHosted have a cool site. I also like RackMy.com's for some reason, it's a design that you don't forget. (not a bad thing)

damn, I was just about to make a thread like this yesterday...

my top 5
1. Hostrocket.com (http://www.hostrocket.com)
2. FastWebsites.com (http://www.fastwebsites.com)
3. Gearhost.com (http://www.gearhost.com)
4. Purple-Paw.com (http://www.purple-paw.com)
5. *****.com (http://www.*****.com/) (even though-- well, you know)

wow, I'd never seen addr before. I love the design, hate the color scheme.

purple, green, and orange?

I'd have to disagree. The orange ads a lot more life to the design.

I have already seen all of the designs previously mentioned, except for fastwebsites.com

And all I can say is Wow.
Absolutely the Best hosting design I have ever seen.

The ADDR website is nice, however I noticed a grammatical error. See, when you go over the Immediate account activation is says "Other May take up to a week to setup your account. We believe your time is valuable and therefore activate your account immediately!"

It should say "Others May take up to a week to setup your account. We believe your time is valuable and therefore activate your account immediately!"

Unless they meant "Other hosts may take up to a week to setup your account. We believe your time is valuable and therefore activate your account immediately!"

I personally like my second "fix" seeing as it mentions who those other people are. Okay, it's late out, I'm bored. That's my excuse as to why I typed all that out.

http://www.skynetweb.com/
http://www.dominet.net/
http://www.crazyhosting.net/
http://www.webhostingfactory.com/

All simple, good color schemes and easy on the eyes and not cluttered like many websites out there...? How can you guys tell when someone steals a website or not, I wish to do business with pixelBrick but wish to know the features / advantages of finding out when someone steals your site?

I see no similarity, Brendan. Although deodreamer.com has same style as your site, don't assume they copy yours. I don't know deodreamer.com, just my opinion. And I have to say that both sites are nice looking.

It looks near identical.

They just did it themselves. Copying HR along the way.

And I have to say that both sites are nice looking. Actually... from what I see the two are very similar. Honestly, when you work on your site long enough, you can easily tell when other designs are modeled off yours. I think there is no doubt that the designer of the deodreamer website spent quite a bit of time at hostrocket's website. We have had quite a few people try to rip our site off recently (many of them are posters here, in fact). It's not always an exact copy, but there are usually some elements that are almost identical to things that we have on our site. I think if you look and compare hostrocket and the deodreamer site, you will find some striking similarities. I'm not saying that it is a direct copy--but I would be surprised if it weren't "inspired by" hostrocket's site.

Oddly enough, every time we send out cease and desist notices to copyright infringers, we always get something back saying that the site was done by a "third party" design agency and that they had "no idea" that the content was stolen. Unfortunately we have yet to obtain any contact information for these professional designers who are so dilligently stealing our work. Coincidence? I think not.

Anyway that's my $0.02.

HRBrendan

Deodreamer says a 3rd party designed thiers as well - however they used to be a design kinda company themselves didnt they? Im pretty sure they did, because they were selling a cpanel skin that was a ripoff of ours as well - not much you can do other than kinda wonder whats running through their heads when they deny it.

-Brendan Yeah... I remember that from the Cpanel.net forums actually. I'm certain that one was designed by them, because they insisted that it was not a ripoff of your theme (when visual evidence suggested otherwise). Maybe they have since hired a third-party design team that also is a big fan of your work? :D

Oh well... best way to go about it is to get the name and contact information of this "third party" and take legal action against them instead. That's what we will be doing from now on--as actually selling copied designs is even worse than simply copying it for personal use IMHO (although I'm not so sure that there are any third-parties involved from the poor quality of the copies that I have seen).

LinuXpert
04-21-2002, 10:57 PM
When I say "no similarity" I mean Deodreamer doesn't copy any parts of HR's site and I think they designed their site themselves. As I said above, they have same style as HR and I agree with Matt that Deodreamer's site is inspired by HR's. That's just my opinion when reviewing the two sites. However, if this also happens to Cpanel skin, then Brendan, you have reasons to accuse Deodreamer of copying your site.

lol @ host rocket design.

Well not lol really but what a bunch of chumps.

Someone needs to teach people some lessons when it comes to nicking work.

Brendon, my advce would be to take the guy to court. ok its going to cost you but people will see that you have the bo**ocks to do it and wont stand for it. then we will see how many people nick your design :)

Matt Lightner

Brendan,

You should start making a list of people who have stolen your design and compile a page (with screenshots--so that they can't deny it) displaying all of the attempted thefts.

How about registering hrripoffs.com? :D

how much does pixelbrick.com charge?

I usually pay a free lancer to do a home page / sub page for me. I then fill in the rest of the pages and content...

Does pixelbrick do two pages...?

or entire sites only?

I contacted PixelBrick...Brendon...I must admit that new site of yours, RackFast...it is one S-A-WEEEEET website...

We will be doing business with them shortly...just got to scatter fundage together...

I do webdesign myself but it is no way NEAR what they are capable of doing...

Brendon, I have an account with you guys and I have to admit keep up the good work. I have a couple dedicateds, but I like to host feeds at times for when I am providing presentations to investors or partners. My servers would lag it...cough to cobalts...but yours just ROCK ON...

I would get a dedicated server from you guys, but 10gb transfer does not cut our sites ;) I will stick to rackshack until you provide around 100-200 gb transfer...

PS - custom music on RackFast is the way to go...good idea to whomever came up with that thought...

Can you copyright interfaces? In that case everybody should pay.

I can't understand all the fuss about someone copying a design because it wouldn't hurt you a bit.
Be proud someone does it because it usually means your design is good and is actually a compliment for the designer.
Take a look around and you will see thta this world is built around copying and we can't do without it.

A thought of many pages compressed to a few sentences so maybe misunderstood by many ;-)

According to the US Copyright office, you can NOT copyright templates (design/layout). You can, however, copyright graphics, etc and text. :)

I want to see the Rackfast site! Where is it?

Any site by Pixelbrick looks great. Hostrocket and Fastwebsites are both good looking sites. Applimetrix (http://www.applimetrix.net/hosting.htm) has a good looking hosting site (chunky on my 56k though). Epoch's (http://www.epochworks.net/) site is really nice too.

I just looked at the RackFast design. I really like that particular shade of green. I also like what they did with the gray border "flexing" as you mouseover the five menu items.

Nice, as expected from PixelBrick.

Does anyone know of any good tutorial sites or classes of Flash? I have FlashMX and would like to make great flash content like pixel brick. I have been designing sites for little over 2 years and believe it is time to step up.

Any ideas?

I just lvoe that RackFast flash intro on top, it is KILLER...I can make the custom music for my flash but I just need to put it all together...

Any info on clases of flash I would appreciate, I know of flashkit but their site is too cluttered that you can't barely breathe on that site...

addr.com have changed their design radically since the last time I looked. I actually quite like it. :) A lot more professional, anyway, than the previous design. But yeah, horrid number of graphics (57 or so??). I like the colours. That "purple" isn't really purple. Turn down the brightness on your monitor. ;)

As for purple-paw.com - cute, good-looking, and purple. :)

My absolute fave at this time has to be cyberpixels.com (though it also takes a while to load for me and some of the parts don't seem to cache in my browser because I see them loading from scratch on a few pages).

I also like adehost.com + cyrixweb.net + hostdepartment.com + neureal.com
