Hello,

Some of the sites on my server can not be listed in the main search engines such as google or yahoo since 4-5 months
it looks like google bot never visits the sites.

Is there any setting on the server side in order to enable the search engine submissions?
or what can be the reason that the sites are still not shown on the engines?

regards,

Google and Yahoo bots regularly including the sites to their database. If the submission is made manually just be patient.

Are there any links pointing to these sites from other sites? - If not, they are never going to be indexed.

Do you have any text on these sites? - Many designers make beautiful looking flash websites which cannot be seen by search engines as they contain only flash.

Do you have a robot.txt file? - If not, create the following file using Notepad:

# Allow all
User-agent: *
Disallow:

and name it robots.txt . Then upload it to the root folder of your site (where the home page is located).

Finally, are you sure that the sites are not indexed at all, or is it only that they rank poorly?

To get google to crawl your site a lot, You need a lot of links.

We have over 1000+ backlinks and we get crawled a lot (all day everyday) (check yahoo's backlink for more accurate countings as google doesnt count some...)

If you want to get crawled more, you simply need more links to your site. Try submitting to some directories such as DMOZ, yahoo dir, and the millions of other hosting directories / web directories out there. :)

Additionally, If your site is the same everytime google comes to your site, It's going to crawl it a lot less frequently - because it realizes you dont update it as often - and there is no need to come a lot.

Just a note, make sure you didn't use any of the "old fashioned" techniques like keyword "cramming" lot's of links but no relevant text, "hidden text" etc. etc.
These days Google will actually ban a site if they find you trying to artificially manipulate the rankings with methods like those. Links need to be relevant (and the more the better) and mainly lot's of good content related to the search terms you want that is frequently updated as stated above.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for all the replies.

The sites are online since 5-6 months and i think its enough time to be patient:)

But they are still not yet listed.

Is there any possibility that because of an issue on the server the sites should not be listed? Does the listing in the search engines have anything to do with the server settings?

I have seen some paid services which are giving the guarantee of being listed in google within couple of weeks. Are these kind of services true?

Regards,

I, Brian

When you say listed - do you mean that Google and Yahoo! do not show a record of having indexed the sites - or do you mean that the sites aren't ranking for anything?

Without seeing your sites, it is difficult to hypothesize on the reasons.I have seen some paid services which are giving the guarantee of being listed in google within couple of weeks. Are these kind of services true?Save your money; there is no need to pay anything to be listed in Google in less than a week. The only worthwhile investment is to spend some time to optimize your site and create relevant link exchanges.

when i type www.domain.com on google or yahoo, i see the result :
Sorry, no information is available for the URL domain.com

So they are not listed at all.

So they are not listed at all. That isn't actually conclusive. Try an allinurl search and see if you get anything:

allinurl:example.com

Also, you said "it looks like google bot never visits the sites." Is that based on checking the server logs, or just a hunch because you don't see the pages in the index?
