I disagree... I only deal with customers who are serious about needing design work done. Many of the people on here are not serious and aren't professional... I have a huge portfolilo of web design work to show...

Being professional has nothing to do with making your portfolio available to any Joe with a web browser...

I don't understand why a designer wouldn't link his work so that potential customers can view and make a decision instead of having to contact you first. Seems a little ridiculous. But if that is how you want it, it is fine with me.

I guess you underestimate those looking for a designer... I've never had problems getting work and I've always asked customers to contact me...

Also, it's a way to protect intellectual property. Why would I want other designers to be able to view my site? What if they like one of my templates? They could easily copy it and compete for my customers.

What's the big deal in posting some work or templates you have done, if someone see's a great looking template you will get more interest, instead of just arguing about it.

I am looking for web design, but so far have only contacted people that have produced their work here fro everyone to see.
