I recently changed nameservers with GoDaddy and it says up to 48 hours to take change and it's been about 18 or so hours. Soo I know I am getting a little impatient, lol, but I've changed nameservers before and it was within the hour. Does anyone know if it usually takes the full 48 hours and I just got lucky before or what?

I believe the changes on Go Daddy's own servers are instantaneous. 48- 72 hrs is the propogation time. i.e , it really depends on when every server (and/ or ISP) will refresh their cache.

These days I have noticed that nameserver changes reflect in less than 30 minutes most of the times.

There are few exceptions and sometimes the ISP dns problems as well.

I wonder why it was taken so much time to change the nameservers before?

I really want to know what has changed about "internet" that we are able to change the nameservers in such a short time?

I remember that my websites were erroneous for a day or two, a few years ago :)

in old days everything was SLOW and technology wasn't advanced to handle so much load so they do them in batches on daily or 12hrs basis

nowadays everything changed its almost instant because of the technology, clustering, etc.. and so many other factors :)

With godaddy I usually get near-instant dns updates. Maybe you didn't add them correctly or something?

Have not used them in ages but they used to apply changes quickly
