I have a dedicated server almost ready that I would love to share with someone. The specs are:
P3 733 Mhz (I will probably go ahead with Dual P3 733)
512 MB Ram ECC
I have 4x30.7 EIDE 7200 rpm, ATA/66 available.
Linux Redhat 7.0 Profesional Server.
Right now I am decideing whether to use 2U rackmount (casis is ready) or 1U rackmount (need to order). If I go with 1U rackmount, then I can only put at most 2 HD (one for backup?). But If I go with 2U rackmount, then I can put all 4 of them inside the 2U (capable of having 8 internal HD). probablt 2 HD bing used as RAID (0+1), and one of them being used for backup (then I am left with another one, any idea how I should use my HDs?).
I also has not come with motherboard yet. Anybody can suggest me a good server motherboard for less than $350? TYAN TIGER 200 is on my top list.... what do you guys think?
Anyway, if you (or anyone else) want to share the server with me, I will be happy..... let me know...
cheers,

RAQ is cheap... but how much bandwith is included and how much is extra? They will probably gonna make money from this.
Anyway, with only 32mb of RAM and 300 Mhz CPU can you really share a lot of the resources? Try running CGI/PERL/PHP intesive webpages... will it work out OK? Anyhow, as for me I have my web server almost ready so I will stick with my server...
cheer,

dektong,
from your server specs I can tell that it will be too costly. The reason I am asking someone to share is I want an entry level dedicated server something that can handle a site or two ...I don't need something for so much, otherwise I would go get my own.
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi Ravi,
as I already mentioned earlier I almost have ther server ready. All I need right now is just the motherboard (which I already ordered it yesterday). I don't need people to pitch in for the server cost since I already paid most of it anyway. What I need is to charge somebody for a nominal fee for the privelege of using my high-end server and have them pay for their bandwith usage (will not be expensive, most probably less than $2/GB/mo) to reduce my colocation and bandwith cost. I gan guarantee you with only a nominal fee, you will get more out of this server than using a RAQ3.
Let me know what you think.
