I want to know Raq5 OS and 3i OS; What different is it? Raq5 OS is more safe? more reliable? or ??

If I need to host the SSL web site at Raq3 OS, what I need to consider? If I block all the IP except the one IP, can the OS more safe than open for all?

Actaully My home router linksys only open the https port and SSH port for outside access. Is it safe?

Please discuss the cobalt safe issue.

Hi,

There is the linux kernal that is different and lots of upgrades to apachie etc. Raq 3 OS is perfectly fine and may use it still. There are no issues with it but make sure all patches are applied to it. The cobalt is far safer than most servers out there on the market and deployment is easy.

Raq3 OS is old and no longer supported, load raq4 or Raq5 OS on your raq3 if you can

I would not say that the RaQ is safer than most other servers, especially if you keep the RaQ 3 OS on it. There are some very out-of-date apps on there (sendmail, bind, proftpd, etc) that are security holes.

RaQ 4 and RaQ 550 will install on the RaQ 3 hardware with no trouble (RaQ 550 will do a ROM upgrade first automatically). Both of those give you PHP support built in (RaQ 3 does not have that). RaQ 550 is the best, most recent and most up to date Cobalt OS; I recommend it to every x86 RaQ owner, and it's all I run on my own RaQs.

For SSL, all you need is to install a certificate. Each site that uses SSL has to have a unique IP address (due to the way the SSL handshake happens). That's the only limitation. You can create a self-signed cert for free, but visitors to the encrypted pages will get a warning popup. You can buy SSL certs from a variety of sources for a variety of prices; then just paste the cert contents into the Cobalt UI for that domain, and you're all set.
