What would be a good monthly fee for:

dual P3 700 Mhz processors
512 MB RAM
2 - 9.1 GB SCSI drives (NOT RAID)
100 GB bandwidth (10 Mb network connection)

I'm not looking for quotes, just off-the-top-of-your-head-opinion-estimate :) I want to see if the server I'm considering is in the ballpark...

~ $1,200 - $1,500 just a rough est.

YEA RIGHT a 1000.00 fo that server, the industry for that server is around 400.00-600.00 a month

where in the world do you find that for 400.00 ? I would say at least 700.00

You could get a 1 MBit capped line with 256 MB PIII SCSI for 575 at dynamichosting or for 640 a Double PIII 1 GB Ram SCSI with 512 KBit capped at maxim. Or for 99 a RAQ3 at 4webspace with 100 GB included :). Or you rent the 100 MBit line for 1000 a month from the other thread, colocate yahoo for 600 and youŽll end up with 400 for your own traffic :-)

Check out olmnetworks.com

dual PIII 800 with 150 GB for 995.00/month under busness
servers. This looks like a good plan, its 256 MB ram but
its probably upgradable

Probably upgradeable? Don;t be too sure - It's amazing how unwilling places are to do upgrades!

Thanks for your estimates. You helped me confirm that I did get a good deal :)

I've been researching dedicated servers and colocation for the past several months, and I've been going crazy!! From my experience, most companies quoted this server configuration including the bandwidth for $800-$1000+

I actually got it for less with a reputable company, even though I thought they were out of the question after seeing the rates on their site. SO.... if you're looking for a server, you might want get into contact with a sales person to see what they can do for you.

OK, so you can't be contacted by email, so how do we contact this sales person to 'do a deal'?

I don't know if your response will be 'forum friendly', so you can email me if you can be bothered.

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound that way... I wasn't trying to tease... I'm just talking in general not to rule out a company unless you've talked with a salesperson. They may get you a better price than one listed on the website, for instance.

Actually, having just been caught myself with a syntax/punctuation faux pas, I must admit that your post reads exactly as you describe it. I'm sorry...heh heh heh

I'm currently buying and shopping etc, so I'm ever interested in what's available, you know what it's like yourself...:) Never mind, on to the next window.
