View Full Version : shattering the [almost] free-hosting myth

I've had a free account with Microworld.com for almost 2 years. They just recently went down and I thought that they had closed their doors. Then a couple of days after I noticed that they went down, they came back to life. Meanwhile, I had set up my site somewhere else (on my own dedicated server).

When I noticed that they had come back, I tried to set up the DNS settings on my domain to point again to the microworld nameservers. For some reason it didn't work so I sent them an email. I got an answer back in a couple of hours with the information that I needed, along with an explanation of the downtime.

OK, a couple of hours might not be considered the best support response time, but realize that I paid a one time fee of about $30 for "life-time" hosting. Coltrey Mather of Microworld has always been courteous and helpful, as well as being remarkably prompt for "free" hosting.

I unconditionally recommend Microworld.com. Their service for "free" hosting accounts is much better than the support I received for a paid hosting account that I had a couple of years ago. (Today I have my own dedicated server so I don't really need paid hosting accounts.)

Just thought I'd pass this on. It's only fair to mention good hosts (along with the ubiquitous complaints here on WHT).
