Get this trash. I had some domain names with names4ever (aplus.net) and i woke up to the fact I was getting ripped off (or at least paying too much) when I could pay a lot less somewhere else and transferred them. However, I was billed 99.00 this morning by them as if I had not transferred them. I am now simply waiting till the billing department opens up in order to try and fix this which shouldn't be a problem since they do have phone numbers unlike other places. Is this a common occurance for companies to bill you again after you'd transferred your domain names?

Okay I called back and emailed today and after calling billing department got no answer. Called the 24 hr support line and got a guy then got disconnected after being "transferred". Then called back and he got a lady on the phone and said you have to on the website and that I should email them etc to cancel the account and then they would refund the money. Well if I go and try to do that they have a clause that says they will bill me 35 dollars for any domains that have processed already. These have been registered before and I was only transferring them before the expiration date to avoid paying out the butt for no reason. How can they charge me money for domains when I have already transferred them to another registrar? They lady apparently didn't want to do it realtime on the phone for me. Maybe by making me go to the website they are trying to say well you authroized it etc. Should I issue a chargeback here or what. My domain names are with someone else. Someone help me here.

It seems to be a common theme here of late ... but ... If you've paid by Credit Card, now would be a good time to ask your CC company for a chargeback. You've tried dealing with the people who billed you, that didnt work so take it up with your bank. They'll have to prove the service you paid for was provided - which it wasnt - and you'll get your money back.

PS. next time it would be much nicer if you didn't bold your entire post. :)

<<MOD NOTE: I've fixed this so it should be easier to read now>>

This happened to me once with register.com.

They charged you first for the domain that is going to expire and they ask you if you approve it or not. They have a link for your email to reject the charges.

This practice is very bad in a sense that we are not in the US using USD, there always have exchange difference when they reverse the charge. And have to phone the CC center to ask them to take the difference off.

Beside, we have to acknownledge the charges first before they actually charge us anything.

Well I went to my bank today and apparently it was charged on that account not my credit card account thus putting me into negative range and making my credit line amount kick in (on which interest is charged in the meantime). I tried calling billing several times today at different times and no answer yet again. I can despute the charges but that will take 7-10 days and it's friday now and I thought I would try to contact them first since that is simpler to do. I think what has happened is Aplus.net has automated most of the customer care options to save money because i'm getting a bad run around. In fact they used to put you on hold until you got someone, now they simply have a recording, then it hangs up after you get no answer.

Obviously I can prove that my domain is with someone else and that they did not offer me services (which I did not authorize also). It will be treated as if they were using a stolen card which they are in essense. Until then I will try and be patient and wait see if the transaction completes with my own money they have put on hold in my own account. :D

PS - I had no idea using bold was an issue on the forum like using caps is with some people. My bad.
