View Full Version : Trouble With WebDesigner
UnitedPakistan 10-19-2005, 05:04 PM Well let me make the story short but here goes
I had posted a topic here on WHT for a webdesigner. I got a email and MSN messenger invite from him through this email spliffted@hotmail.com. We had decided 35 dollars now and 35 dollars later. He reluctantly agreed and he was paid the 35 dollars. After the payment i tried to work with him a bit. The next day he does not show up even once even though his normal routine was that he would be online. So yeah i think its okay its just 1 day. So the next day goes by and i am like something might be wrong. So today i wait and he still hasnt shown up. I put in a Paypal complaint at once and they havent even received a reply from him yet. I keep emailing him to find out whats going on but i receive no response. But you will probaly now say its way to early to think he has commited fraud. Well you are right it is a bit early and if i was wrong about him i would apologize and continue work with him. Then clues started building up. I came on WHT to find his username. His username here is Spliffted
here is a link it looks like he is banned or something. Any advice on what to do next?

bigdavestar 10-19-2005, 05:13 PM Humm, sorry to hear about this he is a member of my forum, i'll look into him for you. I think we banned him a while ago for something or another.
8inet-Johnathan 10-19-2005, 05:15 PM he has been banned for breaking the rules on WHT, your best bet is to issue a charge back with your CC company (if you paid via CC in paypal) if not you'll have to wait untill paypal sides with you
UnitedPakistan 10-19-2005, 05:18 PM Its very sad that these things happen. I am a very kind and forgiving person. Even if he would come on right now i would still work with him despite reading his old threads. I just dont know why all this stuff happens to me?
bigdavestar 10-19-2005, 05:21 PM Sorry to hear about that mate, your best bet is to do your research on an individual first. I know most designers around these parts (partly because I run a design forum) so if you want any recommendations feel free to ask me :)
UnitedPakistan 10-19-2005, 05:23 PM ^ Thanks for your kind words. I was in a bit of a hurry to get something done so i guess i am being punished for my impatience now. And in the near future i would be glad to contact you for recommendations as soon as i get through this.
stripeyteapot 10-20-2005, 05:14 PM This is unfortunate, I learnt the hard way too. Always get a contract with a company, or persons you don't know personally, if thye aren't willing to do so, move on.
I must stress though, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
UnitedPakistan 10-20-2005, 05:46 PM I wont give up my fight to get my money back though. I have sent countless emails to paypal showing them i was not his olny victim. He still hasnt replied to paypal.
Graphicism 10-20-2005, 06:17 PM Isn't it just $35... is it worth all the time it takes to get the money back? Paypal charge to look into it, and then they will turn around and say something like... we don't support illegible goods.
It is kind of strange that someone would run off with $35?... especially if another $35 was promised to him on completion? They are likely a little kid, and shouldn't legally have a paypal account anyway.
What was he charging $70 for btw?
ramiro 10-20-2005, 06:33 PM I hear ya, paypal doesn't give money back for services. But i guess i agree with this, because who are they to judge :)

UnitedPakistan 10-20-2005, 10:33 PM Well looks like he wont be responding. The olny way Paypal will look into it is if he denies the chargeback. In that case we battle it out with paypal. And after i have done a search on WHT on him it looks like this isnt the first time.
UnitedPakistan 10-24-2005, 07:30 AM Status Details:
The seller is in the process of faxing us confirmation that they already processed a refund for this transaction. If the seller does not respond by the deadline, the claim will be decided in your favor. The seller's deadline for responding to this claim is Nov. 3, 2005. No further action is required of you at this time.
Bullcrap!
I received nothing!
What should my next step be?:(
doppess 10-24-2005, 03:19 PM It sounds like PayPal will decide in your favor if they don't receive proof by November 3rd that the transaction was refunded. Wait and see.
Just for further reference if a designer is not willing to send you a e-mail with a free e-mail account dont do business unless you truely know them
UnitedPakistan 10-27-2005, 01:08 PM 6 More days to go until the deadline ends for him. I urge no one to do business with him. He is a shady character. He copies templates and sells them and he screws people like he did to me and some other people here at WHT
anyways, the job is back open so if your intrested please post HERE
