You can find a list of registrars on the registry's web site:

As a general rule I would only use a local provider for CCTLd's

No need for a Google search. There is a full list on the Registry's web site, sorted by country (with the French ones sorted further by geographical region). Why waste time on Google when all the information is being fed to you on a plate by the Registry?

The link to the list is in my earlier post.

Do you need to live in France to register one?

interesting that gandi doesn't register .fr seeing as they're a french registrar.

I work for a .FR certified Web design agency so let me know if you have questions about .FR domains. We have insiders infos from the AFNIC as we are registered members.
Not that I have anything against them, but Gandi is a cheap registrar (with everything that this implies) and they decided to not bother with the procedures required to manage .FR domains. On top of that the founders got into a serious war and are parting, so Gandi is about to be sold.

.fr is not yet open to individuals, only to companies. Gandi will register .fr domains for companies starting Nov. 2nd.

I thought .fr could be available to companies/people that reside within the EU?

http://www.afnic.fr/obtenir/choix_en

All of the following persons can register the domain names of their choice

legal entities (companies, organisations...) whose head office is in France or which possess an address in France which is expressly listed in the public electronic databases of the registrars of the commercial courts or the National Statistical and Economic Studies Institute (INSEE);

State institutions or departments, local authorities or associated establishments;

holders of trademark which own a trademark registered with the National Intellectual Property Institute or own a registered EU or international trademark which expressly includes French territory.
Apparently, individuals can only register second-level domains (e.g. .nom.fr):

There are also second-level domains which are open to the persons non listed above (individuals, ...);
some of the persons listed above can also register in special second-level domains (registration in these sub-domains provides additional security because it guarantees that the person registered actually belongs to the sector in question).
