View Full Version : Reselling Domain Names and chargebacks

Hi there,

I am going to resell domain names. One question I can't find an answer for is:

The customer buys the name and nothing else. After 3 weeks they go and initiate a chargeback for the credit card payment. How am I protected? I mean - I can't use the name they registered. Do services like 2checkout accept my argumentation and proof on purchases of a domain name and refuse the chargeback?

What is your experience in regards to this? Where can I find an official policy on this (is there something like this at all - maybe at ICANN)?

Thanks!

Thanks for bringing this up!

I would be interested in knowing these details as well.

Concerning 2checkout and other cc processing companies and their policies, your best bet is to send an email to their support address.

Regards.

to tell you the truth, 2checkout does not protect you as a seller.

read my post at the bottom.

I have had a $700 chargebacks and when I argued about it, they tell me that it was issued from the clients bank, not 2checkout. I mean come on, what if all your clients issued a chargeback ?

* Bump *

I use revecom, and would like to know their position on this issue, too. Anyone have any experience with a client doing a chargeback with revecom something you disagreed about?

Did you fight it? Did you "win".

Thanks!

You cannot do a thing .. According to rules the burden lies on the merchant so whether your right or wrong the chargeback WILL happen ....the merchant bears the brunt . This rule is due to the numerous nos of fake cards floating around . So if you sell a domain and there is a chargeback there is NO RECOURSE just take over the domain somehow

As far as I know, we can do nothing.
But if you are an OpenSRS reseller, you can contact them to frezee that domain name.
