Although, when I hear or see EARhost, I don't hear or see Easy. Affordable. Reliable. host

I hear or see EAR (those things that help hold up my glasses)host. And I need to wonder; what do my ears have to do with hosting?

Unless you plan on an extensive marketing campaign to change everyone's perception of what EAR means, I would suggest you consider a different name.

SplashHost, MChost, ect. What do these have to do with hosting? I think I will stick with the name, but thanks for the input :)

It's a good, simple design. But where did you get permission to use MySQL AB's trademarked logo?

As I stated this is just a mock-up done by our designer. The site isn't even up yet.

Since you asked; my opinion: I hate the name. If you want those letters in the name, I'd go with REAhost or ERAhost or AREhost or RAEhost... basically, anything but EARhost! :)

Are those logos trademarked? I figured that since every webhost in the history of webhosting had them on their website that they were basically royalty free images by now!

That's funny. MySQL AB does need to do a better job of policing their trademarked logo, or they'll lose it.

As fractiousws noticed after reading the agreement, only MySQL AB is allowed to use the MySQL logo without written permission. Everyone else can use the ones that say "Powerd by MySQL", "Includes MySQL", and "Works with MySQL".

I'm glad that fractiousws is having it changed. A lot of hosts say, "What? Everyone else does it," and have no respect for what is legal.

Anyway, I agree with Jay about the name, but I mean it in the nicest way. It's just my opinion.

So Mark, if I'm understanding it correctly: You can use the logos that have the other text, just not the plain MySQL logo?

Yeah, I did not have a clue what this was either, but apparently it used by alot of designers for a space filler. Check out the artical about it here (http://desktoppub.about.com/library/weekly/aa051199.htm?once=true&terms=lorem+dolor).

Read the polilcy. :) Yes, that's the way that I interpreted it.

Tthe "Powered by MySQL" logo its OK, but you have to make it clickable linking to mysql.com.
