View Full Version : Reseller hosting help required
gm1234 10-19-2005, 12:15 AM I am having a tough time sourcing for reseller hosting service providers. I am looking for two to three serivce providers who offer the best rates along with the best service. Here's what I came accross (infact this list was given to me by my friend):
1.) Hostgator.com
2.) Hostnexus.com
3.) Westhost.com
4.) Zesthost.com
Am I missing out on something or are these hosts the best when it comes to offering reseller hosting?? If there is any good reseller host I am missing out on, please let me know.
One important cirterion I am looking for is that the host should have be en active for a long time atleast 2 years. No newcommers.
Website Rob 10-19-2005, 12:16 AM Normally, Features / Price / Support can be checked out before signing up with anyone. The last point to consider, Service or Uptime, cannot usually be determined until one actually starts using it.
Various places allow for Free or Paid uptime monitoring and well worth using.
Three we use are:
http://easymonitor.com/
http://siteuptime.com/
http://host-tracker.com/
Using a combination of all on one Hoster or each on different Hosters, can give you a good idea on their Service before using them. And, as people are quick to complain and slow to praise -- just the way we are I guess -- look for a Forum at your potential Hoster. Reading through various posts will give a good idea of how other people judge the Hoster along with how they reply to posts.
Overall, research and patience are two important tools when checking most things, Hosting or otherwise. ;)
Commit1 Anthony 10-19-2005, 01:04 AM I will tell you the same thing that we tell all of our resellers. You will need a reliable host, someone that you can reach 24/7, good speeds, and knowledgable staff. When you are a reseller, you can think of your main provider as your backbone. Be sure to make this desicion wisely and not base your choice on the amount of $.
Good luck
hostingoption 10-19-2005, 07:24 AM i think you select the good host here, you can add some more like site5.com, and before signup check the review
The Stealthy One 10-19-2005, 08:00 AM I would recommend adding Resellers Panel (http://www.resellerspanel.com) and HostCentric (http://www.hostcentric.com) to your list.
applepanther 10-20-2005, 07:01 AM You can go with resellerzoom.com or hostdime.com. they are also good

ResellerZoom has not been around for 2 years. And from the ones you have been looking for, I would suggest to search for their reviews.

what are your requirements? I mean is there anything specific you are looking for in a reseller host? Also how many sites you are planning to host.. and whats ur budget?

I'd recommend against going with Resellers Panel, they're the people that offer the free reseller accounts. If your clients realized you were hosted from their operation, that wouldn't help your company's image one bit.
The Stealthy One 10-20-2005, 07:58 PM Not necessarily, Incognito.
It is still a real business, just like any other. Take Wild West Domains, for instance. The setup fee there is currently $89 per year - other than that, WWD and RSP are exactly the same. If a client has a problem with a free reseller account, one can only imagine that they will have a problem with an $89 reseller account as well.
WebHostingGuru 10-21-2005, 06:13 AM I like using http://easymonitor.com/ to monitor web hosts before I buy...usually for months before I buy so I can watch for patterns.
I try to squeeze out of the host IP numbers/server names of their servers (or at least a few of them) so I can monitor them directly, NOT just monitoring the server their (hosting) site is on.
It makes for more accurate overall predictions on how reliable their uptime is.
WebHostingGuru 10-21-2005, 06:19 AM By the way, some web hosts don't like telling you what some of their servers IP's are so you can ping and/or monitor them...
But I don't understand why, unless 1. they are a reseller and have only 1 server (for example) 2. have horrible uptime 3. are new to the biz and have only one server 4. have horrible uptime
lol
I checked out a host once a couple of years ago that was just starting out. They were really nice, but couldn't keep their servers up. They were totally up front with me though on how many servers they had, etc. A couple weeks into the hosting experience with them I found out they were like 14 years old or something...not that there is anything wrong with that. I admire kids that doing something with their free time other than drugs, etc. But, at the same time, I need uptime ;)
I haven't checked this particular host out recently, but they ARE still around and I hope they've learned and grown from their experiences in hosting because if nothing else, they had the honesty aspect of things going for them.
You just gotta admire that. That's more than a lot of hosts have.
