Connectivity & Redundancy is not the order of the day at BurstNet! I have servers on BurstNet and my servers have been down now for 3+ hours!

They say that they have:
OC192 fiber connections to Verizon & Commonwealth Telephone (CTSI).

They go on to say they utilize redundant DS3 connections thru Sprint, MCI/Worldcom and AT&TT (http://www.att.com). An additional OC3 is scheduled for install in April 2002 from yet
unannounced carrier(s).

They have not updated their web site. It guess that should tell you somwthing!

My question is if they have what they say they have why are they down not. If it was two of the three access providers should you still be able to get to your server?

This is not the first attack that BurstNet has gotten. In the last three month this is the 2nd such attack on BurstNet.

Is this due to them hosting Porn Sites?

Why do they seem to have a single point of weekness?
They have been having network problem off and on for the last 6 months.

I just hope their router is not out again! Last time it took them more than a day to get it up and running.

Who is a good noc that runs cpanel? I am ready to pull my servers and go t a new noc!

I feel your pain. Half of the servers I have with BurstNET are still down. It'd be nice if they spent some of their client-base revenues on true fail-over redundancy for a change.

From what I hear, they are actually making quite a few network upgrades. They plan to have 2, possibly 3 OC-3's within a few months (one very soon, to Sprint I believe). Keep in mind that a large enough DDoS attack can bring just about any network to its knees.

They also plan to have a Cisco 120008 (if you think they're not spending money, go price one of those ;)) installed within a week or so... that will be more than enough to block just about any DoS they get--and the additional network bandwidth won't hurt either.

DoS's happen. Burst seems to be taking actions to improve their network situation. That's what it looks like to me anyway.

Sorry for the inconvenience everyone. We came under 2 simultaneous attacks, and have spent the time isolating them, and working with the upstream providers to block them. The router is fine, and we have backups in place in the event of a failure. Everything stipulated on our website is correct, and both the AT&T and Sprint lines are being upgraded very soon. We are awaiting the completion of the circuts from local LECs (Local Exchange Carriers) to upgrade the lines. The fiber should be completed on Thursday of this week, and we're scheduled for next week to have the OC3's completed. We're sorry for the inconvenience to everyone, and are working to ensure that this is not a regular occurrance. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

My site is down as well for +2 hours now right now,I lost many visitors and potential add-money the last week due to these downtimes. But I trust Matthew and he seems to be really dedicated to make things better.
So I keep my fingers crossed.

OK
This is weird.
Our machines have all been working during the period other people are reporting an outage.
I haven't noticed any problems and we have been downloading mail as normal every 5mins from our server at Burst.

Thats the internet.
It must be black magic or the way Iam sitting thats keeping the servers going.

Gordon,

I've noticed the same thing. Sometimes I go to our site and it loads very slow, while everything else that's hosted @burst including burst.net is down.

Besides the attacks, we enjoy doing business with Burst. :-)

Matt & Matt, I'm glad to hear about the upcoming upgrades. I really hope some network stability can be established in the upcoming months.

The slowness is getting worse everyday:((well mainly my Vb forums, not the site itself)
And while my account should be on my dedicated server already, nothing is moved yet,I'm still waiting for a ticket reply for more than 24 hours now:(.

Edit, everything is succesfully moved over now:)
Except I can't ftp yet.
