Hello,

Im currently planning on reselling for a while while I take some time to plan out what I will need for equipment and so forth. I want to try and take up as little space as possible while still providing great servers so the 1U rackmounts are probably the way I will go. My question is, what are some of your experiences with some of the different servers out there? I was thinking of maybe using some Dell servers such as the PowerEdge 1550 for DNS servers, not really sure what to use for email and web servers at the moment. I was contemplating building them myself but I have yet to find a decent source for components. I have seen several links on the boards here for cases but nothing really for motherboards and so forth. Anybody have any input they can share? I am currently thinking I will need 4, maybe 5 servers to start. 2 DNS servers, 1 email server, 1 web server, and possibly a firewall (right now Im thinking about a NT server with CheckPoint for this one, the rest would run Linux). Let me know what you think :)

Thanks!

we use Intel ISP 1100 and they are the SAME boxes as the DELL Poweredge boxes. They seem to work really good. and we've been happy with them. i have one personally as well and it's pretty sweet.

Hi,
A great builder of boxes is http://www.compunite.com. Check 'em out. I plan on getting a couple boxes there for us, too.
