I am a web programmer who currently offers hosting to my clients but I am basically reselling the hosting space. I want to start my own hosting. Can anyone point me to documentation telling me about the bandwidth and drive space considerations? Any other startup info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Martie

What about Operating systems? I am used to Windows NT and 2000 servers with IIS. This is fine for the company I work for but what about as a hosting service? Should I go with FreeBSD or a flavour of Linux or Windows and IIS ok?
In order to begin a hosting company and choose the OS of your choice you must be absolutely familiar from top to bottom with an OS, or hire someone who is totally familiar with the OS. In your case it sounds like NT/2000/IIS5 may be the better option if you know it inside out. Otherwise, hire a decent sysadmin and go Linux/Apache.
(of course, it's actually not as simplistic an answer as I've put it, but this is just an idea..)
