Cheers. Hi Plink,
First of all, welcome to the forum. ;)
There are many good reselling program providers here on WHT. To the hosting business, I'm basically a newbie, too. Possibly like you, my primary concern was trying to find someone who would provide me with:
Reliable hosting services for my clients.
Timely support with a little extra compassion that would not make fun of my "newbie" questions.
Fast Servers (dual processors / lot's of memory).
Demonstrated history of responsible server management.
Honesty and integrity about issues that arise (when there is a problem, I want to be informed of what it is and what is being done to solve it... I will not tolerate being lied to about server problems.)
An affordable price (Maybe not the lowest price, but a cost effective solution compared to everything that I'm receiving).
I believe that I've found all of this in www.SplashHost.com
I've only had service there since February, but overall, I'm very happy with my decision.
I encourage you to use the search button on the top of the page to investigate any provider that you may be interested in. That is the power of an open forum... free speech and honest opinions.
Best of Luck to you in your new business,
Keith
zRedDice 04-20-2002, 01:36 PM http://www.genius-hosting.com is both very flexible, and low priced. the staff are friendly, and response time is fast. I'm considering going with them myself, as I am yet to find another deal as good. :)

jfcc101 04-20-2002, 05:03 PM Those are good points to consider when choosing a provider. You should also find out the following:
1) Do they operate there own data center.
2) If so does it incorporate a sufficient backup energy source if power is lost (UPS & Generator)
3) Do they offer a control panel for customers.
4) Do they respond to your support email fast at all times of the day?
If they do not operate there own facility you should really research who they are co-locating with. This is important because a lot of these places are going under and it would really be shame if this happened and as a result your sites are down while they are forced to make a move to another provider.
These are just some things you should look at. Additionally you should check out there reliability and track record.
This forum is a good source of tracking there past records by doing a search for the company's name. Recently I have admired the services offered by FutureQuest. They seem to have a very nicely priced matrix of discounts for resellers, as well as there own data center. You might ask what other people are using here and see how they like the respected company they are reselling for.
Anyhow I hope this helps..

MCHost-Marc 04-20-2002, 05:22 PM There are 2 different kinds of reseller plans.
1. You host all your clients' accounts under the same space and bandwidth - one large account - and you basically control how much disk space and bandwidth, pop3 accounts, ftp accounts, etc. you give each client.
2. You purchase a reseller hosting account for your company and then buy each account separately for each of your clients with a pre-defined amount of space, bandwidth, pop3 accounts, etc.
I hope this helps in your decision to find the right provider for your business :)
trustedurl.com 04-20-2002, 06:16 PM I am/have been with the following companies (all allowing you to resell from bulk):
1. McHost
2. SplashHost
3. PixelSeven
4. Pearlnetworks...
personally I recommend 1-3. I wasn't with #4 long enough to make a negative recommendation.
Pricing for #1 - #3 is very competitive... check their websites, but I believe it's in this order (p7 is cheap when you need ips)
price:
1. PixelSeven
2. SplashHost
3. McHost.
# of staff:
1. McHost
2. SplashHost
3. PixelSeven
Time to solve a problem (the ranking is based on the time spend on it and the type of problem):
1. McHost
2. PixelSeven
3. SplashHost (though I haven't been with them since about january)
All 3 have forums, however the McHost forums are the largest. SplashHost does have some nice CPanel skins installed for its customers. P7 & McHost have very similar looking skins. However, McHost is working on an alternative to CPanel.
So:
best price goes to PixelSeven
most likely to be around in the future goes to McHost
fastest servers (from my experience) goes to SplashHost
:D there ya have it!
(of course this is just my opinion)

Wow. Your reply was very easy to process and helpful. I didn't post the thread, but...thanks! :)
ragman 04-24-2002, 12:28 AM support is excellent at www.surrenderonline.com, & the price's
are alot cheaper than bigger hosting resellers out there that i've
seen on the web. highly recommended to anyone interested in
getting some hosting, this reseller is great for newbies that
need help getting started, as well as for experienced users
with 24/7 service & support is tops in my book.
check them out at
www.surrenderonline.com/reseller.html
been with some of the service providers above , im not going to make any negative comments , because maybe they were just having a bad month. Anyways...Ive been with splashhost , the servers are fast , the cpanel skins are the best , good support from alan (alan is very quick) , the prices are good , and not for one second have i ever felt like i made a bad decision . Thats my 2 cents

3. SplashHost (though I haven't been with them since about january)
again, it's just my experience and opinion....

Yes and no. Yes, their website is not done, HOWEVER, they have been around longer than you might think and their servers are good as well the service.
Just my 2c.
95 Degrees 04-24-2002, 01:22 PM If I sit here and collect all the 2c being thrown around, how much do you think I can make by the end of the month? ;)

Actually I am getting "page not found" when I go to their URL.
95 Degrees 04-28-2002, 02:30 AM I also can't get to their page tonight.
It was fine a couple of days ago.
NyteOwl 04-29-2002, 12:55 PM I hadn't been on their site before now but after looking through Surrenderonline's site I wonder if they themselves are a reseller, share an upstream provider with Splashhost, or simply borrowed Splashhosts "Why Us" page.
http://www.splashhost.com/whyus.htm
http://www.surrenderonline.com/network.html
95 Degrees 04-29-2002, 01:26 PM SurrenderOnline.com is still M.I.A.
I was even considering signing with them...had excellent price.
Out of interest, anyone know where they went or why the site is not there anymore? They answered my emails up to a few days ago. Was anyone signed up there?
dancies 04-29-2002, 03:00 PM No one's mentioned it yet, so I thought I might...
Ventures Online (www.venturesonline.com) seems to have a pretty good following around these parts as well. I've only been using them for a few weeks, so I'm not really qualified to pass judgement, but from what I've seen so far, it's a great company.

decebal 04-29-2002, 04:42 PM I'm with splashhost and they have a great services for:
* uptime
* support
* community
* price
* services
That's why I recommend them.
Good luck ;)
Choppy 04-29-2002, 10:22 PM Hi everyone!
Our site was down but we did not know about it? That is very strange!
http://www.surrenderonline.com/reseller.html well thats the link we have not had problems with it.
About SH and US we have servers with the same NOC. Our new servers are elsewhere...
He have been running around here getting everything ready for the next load of resellers.
If anybody needed to sign up and they could not we apologise and we will offer you a discount!
Thanks in advance.
RandyJ 05-01-2002, 04:13 PM Pixelseven is a pain to use their website...
I just sent a message to sales, info, and support emails... I'm waiting to see how long it takes for them to get back...
Interesting thing... I got an autoresponder back from support, and it was from pixel7@hawaii.dnsvault.com... which McHost uses dnsvault.com.
Interesting...
Choppy 05-02-2002, 10:45 AM Yeah maybe they are reselling for MCHOST or something i have no idea about these companies at all.. but who knows could be!
Anyway our new website is up and ready to rumble... :)
Just had to add that because i am very happy with it.
:) :D
RandyJ 05-02-2002, 10:49 AM Well... it's been almost 24 hours... and no word from pixel7.
I've pretty much scratched them off my list of hosting companies.
I'm not at all impressed.
Pinocchi 05-02-2002, 05:57 PM Hi,
Ever thought about Everyday Internet Solotions (http://www.eishost.com). I'm with them and can tell you that support is top! All the questions I had are taken care of very well. Matt really takes the time to see what the problem is and how to solve it, not stopping before the answer is there.
Besides that they have the rather nice H-Sphere 2.1 control panel which is very complete. Yep, billing and troubleticketsystem included along with several other very nice features.
Just have a look, ask Matt the questions you're haveing and I'm sure he will be more than willing to help you out.
Regards,
Erik

I am signed with them!! There site was down? I do know they are doing some site updates, so maybe that was the cause, because my site shows no down time at all. Thats what I like about them they are always updating to make things easier.
Cheers
Thebeginner 05-03-2002, 04:32 AM Mchost is my choice .
In the past there was some problems with support but now everything is back to normal.
There were problems with uptime, but these problems are now resolved. I think that they were caused by the success of the company and there were too many clients. I think they were not prepared for that many clients.
Plus when you have more clients, you can have your server at a good price.
They have created their own version of CP "The VirtualCP"
http://forums.virtualcp.com/
I think that Mchost will remain a long time in business and is a compnay you can trust and is have a great community :D
genesys 05-03-2002, 05:18 AM someone offered me reseller with plesk , $200/year unlimited space with 50Gig bandwith. Shld i take it?

I'd be weary of anyone offering anything unlimited for $16-$17/mo. None of the servers I've ever owned or leased had hard drives larger than 30GB and I'm pretty sure $16 isn't going to buy you an entire server worth of space, let alone an 'unlimited' amount of space.
The word simply shouldn't be used. I'm not trying to pick on this point, but c'mon, how much space are you getting? I'd ask, that's just me. It is quite impossible to work out a business plan including your pricing and costs for providing your services when one of the factors is totally bogus.
If you *do* sign up for this, be sure to plug in reasonable numbers for space allocated to yourself and your customers, as when you grow out of a reseller account, you're going to learn that servers come with specific hard drive amounts. This much I know.
Ask that host how much they charge for a dedicated server with unlimited space, and 50 GB of transfer, heh.
My guess at their reaction: :uhh:

I don't know how to state the following more strongly...
If one believes that the best way to become a reseller is to purchase a fixed amount of server space and bandwidth and then sell as many accounts thereon as it will reasonably support, I'm beginning to think that Remarkable Hosting (http://www.remarkablehosting.com) is the ticket. From my research, and notwithstanding postings elsewhere in these forums suggesting that Ensim's control panel may not be as "friendly" as others, I have become convinced that Ensim's "Webppliance" (http://ensim.com/products/webppliance/index.shtml) is the proper approach to virtual private server (VPS) technology -- especially in the area of resource allocation and effective isolation of VPS activity from the rest of the physical server. And I am equally convinced that Remarkable Hosting (http://www.remarkablehosting.com) is the best place to obtain a Webppliance account for a variety of reasons, chief among them that Remarkable's owner is a former Ensim employee and knows the product inside out, and presumably still has good connections and a bit of an inside track with Ensim. In addition, if you read the Remarkable Hosting support forums (http://http://support.remarkablehosting.com) you'll notice that pretty much everything is working properly and when it isn't, Remarkable's support is on top of it quickly and is very responsive.
On the other hand, if you believe that the best and easiest way to get into hosting is to sign-up for a reseller account with a reputable hosting company and then to resell its normal packages at a 50% (or thereabouts) discount, then I cannot more strongly recommend Hosting Matters (http://www.hostingmatters.com). From what started-out as a small-time operation in Jacksonville, FL, Annette and Stephanie have built perhaps the best, most reliable and most highly-regarded hosting company in the industry. They're former Alabanza (http://www.alabanza.com) server owners who have now (wisely) moved their operations to NAC's data center (http://www.nac.net/tour/ipix1.asp) and are now offering CPanel and WHM (http://cpanel.net/realindex.html
) to their resellers. While I have issues, generally, with CPanel, I am struck by how well Annette and Stephanie have implemented and are supporting it. And "support" is, without a doubt, the single most salient reason to choose them. I am unaware of a more responsive hosting company (and I've researched it extensively) or one whose owners are more committed to customer service. Even only a cursory examination of Hosting Matters support forums (http://forums.hmdns.net/) reveals a diverse collection of users who are both very happy and fiercely loyal.
There are many other good hosting companies -- some, I'm sure, who have reputations as good as, and customers as happy as, Remarkable Hosting (http://www.remarkablehosting.com) and Hosting Matters (http://www.hostingmatters.com). I am simply saying that I know of at least those two who seem to understand the importance of good performance as well as excellent support. And I strongly recommend you consider them, depending on what type of hosting you want to do.

We are hosted at MC Host for our site, but do not resell their reseller plans. How would that be feasable?

It may just be me, but what does that say about your faith in the servers you do resell, that you do not even host your own company web site on the same servers you sell to your clients?

I have never used McHost so I can not say anything about thier service, but any web host that keeps taking more clients while it's current clients are suffering does not say much. How can you keep blaiming problems on the growth of a business? Buy new servers, hire more staff, quit taking orders until you get everything secured. If your losing current customers because of problems arising from new customers, doesn't that defeat the purpose?
I am not affiliated with SplashHost, but one time while I was looking for a reseller account, I came across them and they weren't taking new orders until they got in a new server, and that meant to me that they were taking care of their current customers to make sure their servers weren't overloaded.
pattox 05-03-2002, 10:44 PM I have used onefusion.com/resellers/ before and i was pretty pleased with their service,I mean they offer the best deal in town anyways.

I totally agree with this.
I have normal account with HostMatters since this forum hosted by them(WebHostLink). They provide both stable servers and friendly supports. No experiences with RemarkableHosting. From my research, RH seems to be a good company too.
I did have a reseller account with McHost for several months(BurstNet).
I don't think they're good enough to other old companys like HostMatters or FutureQuest.
They (McHost) are cheap I have to say, but too many networks and servers problems(partial due to a lots of abuse from such low-cost-reseller).
To prove this, you can check futurequest and hostmatters' website for their server status pages.
