Has anybody had any experience trying to transfer a domain away from Tiscali.it?
They use Network Solutions as their registrar.
A client has been trying to move a doman for the last month and a half and they have been totally un-cooperative. I would have just changed the DNS settings, but Tiscali never supplied the client with the username/password!

Any suggestions or previous experiences might help me.

Do you have more specific problems?

Transfers away from NetSol can be very problematic.

Make sure you are the admin contact for the domain and that the email address you have for the admin contact is valid and works.

Your gaining registrar may have to trigger the transfer multiple times before it is successful.

Sorry! I wasn't too sure how much detail to add... (as usual)
Basically my client registered three domains via Tiscali.it (.com/.net/.it). Tiscali, however, are not a registrar. All domains registered 'with' them are actually registered with Netsol, as a whois search will show (it also says as much on their site)
The Admin contact for the domain is my client, however all the other contacts are Tiscali. Having already managed to transfer domains from Netsol to another registrar I went about it in the usual way.. sending a request for transfer via my GUI. Normally the GUI sends an email confirmation to the domain administrator for confirmation etc..
Then problems! Netsol refused the transfer. I checked with the new registrar, but they referred me to Netsol. Netsol asked me for a NIC, saying that the new registrar must have one for the request etc. The new registrar doesn't.
Eventually I contacted Tiscali, who refuse to make any DNS changes and almost require blood samples from the client to 'break' the contract...
In the meantime the client is screaming for my blood...
Any ideas?
