Hi.

"Bradman" from these forums, with his posts from:

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33216

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34089

and numerous others.

He signed up with us. Month 1, payment was late 4 days, no problem. We didn't suspend site.

Month 2, payment was late 4 days, again we didn't suspend site since he had problems with paypal, [as he claimed] and we thought to wait. Payment came from his friend from
cgi-network.net
for his account, so we continued and told him to be punctual later on.

Month 3, payment due on April 1st, and he starts saying he will switch to something other than paypal and send payment. Today is april 16th, site was suspended once on 10th, to make him contact us and he did, [since he never replied to our emails], and he said payment coming soon. We get complaints that he is selling www.perldesk.com script for 49 dollars and more, so we take a look and contact him and he says he will remove it. That was 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th. 15 days, and we don't suspend the site because he says paypal has suspended his account and he has no choice but this and that.

Today, his reply "Oh, payment? I have to go eat Wendys! SUSPEND THE ACCOUNT!."

I have contacted the perldesk author [John] on this, and advise all people to stay away from him [Brad or "Adnan Rashid", his real name and powerhosting87@hotmail.com, one of his emails].

His real name from payments from paypal for his mfirst month with us are "Adnan Rashid" to which till today 16 requests have been sent , and so far no payment. He also uses the nick Brad, BradF and BradMan.

I have suspended his site and not terminated it since John [perldesk author] might want to see how he is selling the script or anyone else.

Just letting everyone have an eye open. Hope no one else has gotten burnt this month.

Good luck to you all in your ventures, and happy wishes.

Oh but it can. Lots of $1/month hosting out there :cartman:

And you think "uptime" is garanteed when you are hosting your site at one of the bigger boys?

Think again! The bigger the hosting provider, the more people complain about them and that's the truth. They really don't give a **** about you.

Remember that a smal hoster with one or a few more servers uses the same infrastructure as the owner of the NOC he puts his server(s). Now think about that!

It's all about how you are dealing with your customers and how serious you take them. Small doesn't neccesary mean bad and the same goes for a cheap hoster. But sometimes there are CHEAP people behind cheap/expensive and bighosters and that is just a fact of life ;-)

Thanks for the warning.

Just out of interest, I had the idea awhile back to start some kind of customer monitor system for hosts to share, simular to what insurance companies use to share bad debt people etc with each other. I've started a thread about this to see if any hosts would be interested in such a service, i.e. where details of fraud, bad payers, abusers, spammers etc is held. Obviously there would need to be systems in place to avoid abuse of the system but before spending time and money developing such a system it would be useful to see if hosts would be interested in such a service.

The idea would be that when the host gains a new customer they could enter the system to check if they are logged as doing fraud, spam etc etc.

Look forward to the replies - please feel free to email me at: scott@prowebspace.com if you'd like to talk about this :)

Thanks a lot for letting us know that. My company uses perldesk and it's nice to know that.

Yeah, I think I also had an incident with him as well. I created a template for him and he didn't like it so he claimed I was unprofessional for not wanting to change it for the 5th time or something like that. Or at least, I think it was him. The email address and screenname is extremely familiar.
