View Full Version : Billing System for Services + Hosting
crazylane 10-16-2005, 04:21 AM More than half of our sales are labor, products and about 25% hosting, I've demo'd clientexec, modern bill, lpanel and so on, however I find all very difficult to add services and products.
Any suggestions!
Defcon|Rich 10-16-2005, 04:51 AM If you find the software you list difficult to use you might need to read up some more. Sure they can be hard to use but there simply is no two click billing system available..
Modernbill is probably the hardest to use but the most flexible. I never used lpanel so no comments on that. Client Exec is about as easy as it gets. If you cannot figure that one out I'm not sure what to tell you..
Good luck
Jamie Harrop 10-16-2005, 06:06 AM To be honest, crazylane, most of these client management systems are a little complicated, you'll be hard pressed to find one which isn't. Here is a list of all the client management systems that come to mind.
PHPCoin - Free, you get what you pay for. I wasn't impressed.
WhoisCart - WhoisCart is a little better, but again, I wasn't too impressed.
Ubersmith - I haven't used Ubersmith from an admin point of view, although I have been on the client side of things, and it seemed like a very nice piece of kit.
AccountLab - I had a little play with AccountLab when it first came out, (when it was free). I haven't had a chance to use it since Netenberg took over it and started charging. It did look very promising though when it was free.
WHMAP - I have used WHMAP in the past, I could live with it, but it was nothing special in my opinion.
Clientexec - Clientexec, I haven't used, although it does seem to have a very sturdy reputation with many around here.
ModernBill - ModernBill, the one I use at the moment, and probably the best I have used.
Lpanel - No experience, but those who use it seem to give it praise.
Sohan 10-16-2005, 06:21 AM I use WHMAP and i wouldn't change it ever! Clientexec doesn't support resellers etc, and only maxmind fraud. Then Modernbill, i just couldn't work it, and it had too many bugs.
Can't wait for WHMAP V3, that will be the billing leader!
txuspi 10-16-2005, 07:26 AM Hi,
Remenber AWBS.
Its not difficult to add services and products.
ModernAdvisors 10-18-2005, 11:27 PM We use ModernBill... it works flawlessly!
You may look @ PerlBill and ModernBill. I think PerlBill MAY serve your purpose better... I'd look at both indepth.
bithost(NET) 10-19-2005, 07:08 AM Modernbill would do this perfectly. For the services invoices just use the "create a single invoice" feature. It's not so hard????? Just code your invoice (HTML) and send it out. Maybe I'm missing something.............
:D Bailey
tree-host 10-19-2005, 07:12 AM AWBS makes it pretyt easy to add services, you can either just add an invoice to an account, or create a service in the products and get the client to signup for it....
I must say AWBS may not be as pretty as some other systems, but i so far have no complaints. (except maybe the template engine, but it gets easier as you go along)
hostingoption 10-19-2005, 08:40 AM I think so, AWBS is good but support is slow i got the support ticket response after 3 day.
e5hosting.com 10-23-2005, 10:07 AM Has anyone tried using an accounting program like netsuite com to manage there hosting business? I find it to be very flexible.

crazylane 10-23-2005, 10:21 AM I actually went with something simplier, I went with a A Plus Bill. I wanted an web based invoicing system, however I didn't want to write one from scratch. They include the source code, too.
Shaw Networks 10-23-2005, 07:59 PM WHMAP is by far your best choice if you're running cPanel based servers. Easy setup, simple for clients to navigate, integrates easily with all websites, etc.

ditto, modernbill is a pain to begin with and it looks impossible but it has almost everything you could want, plus it has some major upgrades on the way. It also has been pretty much universally accepted in the hosting community as well as one of the standards to use
keliix06 10-24-2005, 06:05 PM We use MB to invoice for the services we offer. We just create the service as a package and have the client signup. Then they pay a one time/non-renewable invoice.
For some of my development work I also use QuickBooks to generate invoices. That income just won't show up in MB.
