I'm looking for the same thing right now, or if not free, then very low cost. It would only get maybe 2-3 tickets a mont but I want the ability to track the properly if I grow.

You could look at http://www.helpcenterlive.com/ which includes a ticketing system. When you say helpdesk what are you after? FAQ/Trouble ticket/LiveHelp... ?

i'm looking for more Trouble Ticket/Live Help though FAQ is useful just an exhausting compilation i think might be overlooked.

Cerberus Helpdesk has a really good free version and has the source code not encrypted

I ended up using OS ticket, It's nice and lite for my uses and works well. Their site isn't offering downloads right now but somebody posted a download of the last version on their message board if you look around.
