Hi

I have registered my domain name with one company and have just registered a hosting account with another. I am trying to access the FTP server but it cannot seem to do so.

How do I change the DNS on my domain name to point to the hosting servers? I have the details needed but dont know how to do this.

Thanks

Abi

The place where you have your Domain Name registered is called a Registrar. Most Registrars allow you to input the required information for Name Servers. You need to go to your Registrar and however they do it, assign your Domain Name to point to the Name Servers you are using.

If you are unsure how to do this your Registrar is the best one to ask. Should be straight forward though, to insert the Name Servers information.

As it will take about 48hrs for the information to be updated and if you have an IP address for your Domain Name (at the "new" Hoster) just use your IP address to access your FTP account or Control Panel. You will not be able to use your Email or FrontPage extensions, if you use FrontPage, until the Domain Name has resolved to your new Name Servers.
