Does anyone have any experience with this company. Their plan looks good and their site is quick, but being new to this, I am nervous if I can't find a reference or two.

Seems to be a Hong-Kong Company.

I contacted them directly and asked for some reference sites, but they refused to divulge any info. I checked out some of the web sites of the people who had given them high ratings on webhostingratings.com, I then contacted those sites directly and received some positive replies. I know, could be the same people, but the web sites were quite diverse.

Anyways, thought I would give them a go, but their system refuses to take card details and their support department refuses to answer my cries, nay, plees for help. How are these guys in business?

I have checked my credit card and no payments have been taken yet, but I guess I better monitor it for a while yet.

Very poor service, and what sales company can't/ won't provide reference sites? Guess I learnt my lesson here, but how do I choose a reputable web host now?

If you mean reference sites as in sites they host, we won't give out sites we host with out the owners consent either, it's called a privacy policy.

But I would monitor your card just in case.

Surely anyone who is selling a service will have a couple of reference sites lined up. I can't be the only person who would like a reference before buying????

I am not talking about revealing confidential info, I wouldn't do that either and respect that policy, but if I was selling my services, I would have one or two, maybe more, friendly customers ready and willing to offer a reference for prospective customers, that's how we do business in the real world!;)

We normally leave it up to the customer if they want to recommend us, we ask them first and they are normally very good at reccommending us if a client asks in a forum, we also have a forum where customers can ask questions to existing clients,
I do know where you are coming from and it is nice to have clients willing to do this, but we never publically give out details, but anyone is welcome to contact our clients is they don't mind.

Hi people, i just signed up just to post a reply about ICD soft.. i have been browsing the net lately for a good, but necessarly CHEAP host and from the webhostingratings.com website i came across this ICD soft company...
I didnt know as well if trust them or not, i have just created my 1st website and therefore i am a complete newbie in webmastering. I needed as well opinions from people who used ICD soft before and, like someone said, the reviews on webhostingratings forum seemed all written by similar persons so, what could i do? i didnt contact the company itself but i sent an e-mail to everyone who put his/her addy on the review.
Surprisingly (or not?) a lot of ppl answered me, all tellin good opinions about the services of ICDsoft (fast, no hour long downtimes, lot of stuff available) only one seemed disappointed about the servers location (Hong Kong) tellin me uncomprehensible things about backbones, nodes, trace route progs and so on :P
Some people also gave me their sites address, and i saw they are all about really different things (from family sites, to music, to a little town portal and so on) and the location of the people was really not the same, so i doubt they are all from ICD soft itself!
the sites went pretty fast and i didnt have probs connecting.
As for the credit card, i saw a response by ICD soft to another user who had problems with it on the webhostingratings site, and they explained that is not their fault but of the administrators of credit card payments (that is another company)
If i will subscribe with them, anyways, i will use paypal, even if after what i read on this forum, im not trusting them anymore like i used to do! :PPP
