Hello, this is my first post in this forum. :)

I have a site and i want to accept CC payments through it. What i'm looking for is a solution that will allow me to accept CC payments from MY web site, and not through a 3rd party gateway like PayPal, 2CheckOut etc.

I am located in Greece, and the monthly revenue is around 1000 euros and increasing.

Please don't send me PM's but rather post your reply here.

Thanks for your help! :)

You have to have internet merchant account, and payment gateway.
For merchant account, you should try:
Pago-Germany,
telekurs-Swiss
or maybe Delta Singular from greece
for gateway you have many options just do a search.
YOu can try saferpay from germany
I am not from greece but I hope that this help you

Can you explain to me why i need both? :) Sorry, im not much into this stuff.

I was also thinking about collecting the info via secure connection from my site and passing it through a gateway like PayPal, but i don't want it to write "PayPal* company name" in the CC statement. Maybe you know some gateway that offers this?

I am currently using a gateway from Delta Singular but it sucks big time so i would like to avoid it.

I don't care where from this company (where i'll get the account from) will be, as long as i can get the money in Greece.

Thanks for your reply

With "only" 1000 EURO I don't think Pago will accept your business, also it will give you alot of work to become a merchant account with them.

You should try some of the other solutions arround there.

Maybe use 2CO until you get a higher volume and then switch, a real merchant account and gateway will cost you some money and there will not be much left from the 1000k.

You will always need a gateway to be able to connect to the bank, some PSP's offer both the MAP and the payment gateway other only offer one of this.

Another option would be worldpay but they are also expansive but offer both.

Well 2CO statements have that "2CO*" thing which i said i want to avoid. Also 5,5% is too much.

I could pay a little more as long as what i want is done. That would be just to accept the payment (or cc info) on my site (not external gateway) and the cc statement to write only my company's name, and nothing else (regardless of the process it takes).

There are a zillion sites out there who are doing this. The only difficulty is my country (Greece). There arent any options around here. :(

bardhyli,
hmmm, I dont understand why it should be difficult for you to become a merchant account.

Greece isn't a country which is hard to place. Im sure even some banks in Greece would be able to provide you with a merchant account(I don't know if it's possible)

If you want only your company name on the descriptor, then you are right you will need you own merchant account. If you are willing to pay a little bit for it, then try to get an proposal from WireCard, I know they can place your business...just a matter of costs.

Well i will check this WireCard and WorldPay. If you think of anything else please let me know. :)

There are only 2 Greek banks who offer online transactions and they both offer only gateways, they don't let you do it in your site.

Before you decide to do payment processing on your site/server, please check Visa and Mastercard regulation

i have contacted metacharge, wirecard, worldpay and ccavenue. after one week, the only one who replied to my questions was metacharge, and i didn't recieve any answer from the rest.

isn't it weird? any suggestions?

bardhyli, in order to have asap a merchant account in Greece you need to be in TEBE (Greek word...).
If you pay the monthly fees for TEBE then all you need is to go in a bank (Alpha or Eurobank) and enable the merchant option.

Alpha bank has also an easy interface and an API as well.

i am currently using alpha bank and that's what i want to get rid of :P

their chargeback policy is idiotic, they dont let you have the payment done in your site, their fraud protection is zero... well the only good thing is that they put the money in your account the next day, but that's not so important

recently they forced me to pay some charge backs from 6 and 5 months ago! that's just unacceptable

Did you try with Eurobank? I've heard that they have a fraud policy in place. Not sure about that.

How much they charge per fraud?

In UK for example is almost impossible to open a merchant account if you are from another country. HSBC asked me to deposit 20k to open me a merchant account 2 years ago where I asked for.

well i will go check eurobank but im not hoping for much

alpha bank doesnt have a chargeback fee (cause if they did they wouldn't have any clients i guess)

but they are plain newbies. my partner asked them what we can do to avoid these fraudulent cards and they told him that we should ask for the verification number. the thing is that it is already asked in their payment gateway, although it's not obligatory. and if i email them and ask it, it's still of no use to me, cause i can't verify it

anyway they are idiots simple as that
