I'm trying to locate a book that I can use for learning PHP. I tend to learn in an odd way. I am looking for a book (probably in reference format) where it will have sections on each type function/whatnot in PHP and then describe what it is, what it does, etc, and then provide a couple of examples. This means that the majority of the books, which walk you through creating a site across the entire book would not work. This needs to be an in-depth reference.

php.net is the best source I have found so far, but it has two disadvantages:

1) I work much, much better when I have a book to my left and can look at the screen.
2) The descriptions it uses are a bit over my head.
