I want to create a testing server at my house. I do not want to pay for the control panel but I want to be able to create a couple of websites and do some modifications when it is needed.

Can I find a good free control panel? Any ideas?

If you're not doing production stuff, the web-cp 0.6 CVS (http://www.web-cp.net/cvs.php) is pretty good now and should work fine for testing. Otherwise, you could use web-cp 0.5.7 (http://www.web-cp.net/releases.php).

in my opinion,

vhcs is by far the best control panel. vhcs .net

better than the following tested control panels:

ensim
plesk
cpanel / whm
zpanel
web::cp
