I will taste one and tell you.. Hrm.. .. I taste apple .. corn syrup, some sugar, water, modified corn starch, .. and.. sorbitol, dextrose, brown sugar, sodium alginate.. spices.. .citric acid? -- some salt.. dicalcium phosphate for sure.. I think that's what's in the filling.

SO.. it is APPLES!

A little offtopic, but this is their birthday cake (remember those?) As ingredients are usually listed in order of volume (ie the main ingredient first, smallest, last) this list makes for some disturbing reading. I don't think my kid will be spending her birtday there.

I once saw a package of frozen 'blueberry' waffles, but the berries were actually dyed blue apple bits.

IMO, if you are dumb enough to eat at McD's, you deserve what you get (be it rabit, apple, or cardboard)

Let me guess... the "insider" is you friend that flips burgers there so he's some expert!

of course it's apples ya goones! You can't lie about these things becuase if anyone found out you'd be in major trouble. Besides you do realize there's a reason why they add sodium , spices, and citric acid to the goo! it preserves the apples! then keep them frozen till you serve them and they'll easily last for months...

Especially after you've already paid out millions in judgments for committing the nefarious act of serving hot coffee.

took some time searching urban legend sites and found this!

http://www.snopes2.com/horrors/food/mcdshake.htm

near the bottom is this

A more innocent McDonalds dessert rumor concerns their apple turnovers. Some have heard that McD's doesn't use real apples in them -- the "fruit" filling is really potatoes, pears, or maybe even crackers.

Shockingly, the primary ingredient in McDonald's apple pies is apple. Rumors of this nature play on the idea that the big, bad corporation will happily attempt to slip a less expensive substitute past a consumer whenever it can. Belief in this particular whisper is bolstered by memories of oddball recipes for "mock apple pie" culled from old cooking books wherein the "mock apples" were Ritz crackers.

My brother asked Jack Murphy (http://www.brawnylads.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/forums.cgi?forum=5), life consultant, this very question. I won't ruin it for you, but they settled this once and for all.
