I'm trying to find a *special* host. By this, I mean that we're not looking for a run-ot-the-mill hosting company. We have some
special needs, and any potential host will have to be able to meet our needs. We're looking to find a host who can offer the following:
500MB disk storage space
50GB+ monthly data transfer allowance
CGI-bin w/ Perl support
SSI support
POP3/SMTP for up to 25 users
FTP access for up to 25 users
Unlimited email aliases
Multiple-domain hosting (up to 5)
Additionally, we'd like to find a host who can offer these services, but we'll consider a host who offers the above, but not these:
IMAP support
Telnet accounts (1 or 2)
web-based control panel
password-protected directories
We are a popular, family-friendly gaming site looking to find a long-term home. We currently have about 280MB of files, but anticipate growing over the coming months. Likewise, we're not currently using 50GB/month data transfer, but we anticipate needing that allowance if our site continues to grow as it has in the months since our début. Our disk space is consumed mainly by .zip files containing files available for free download by site visitors. The files are image files - no mpg or avi files whatsoever. The zips contain files to be used by the visitor to supplement the
game (The Sims).
We're hoping to find an economical solution and will be reviewing quotes from several hosting companies. If possible, we'd also like the opportunity to talk with current clients so that we can better ensure that we're making a move to the right hosting company.
