I'm looking for a decent up and running content management system (like MidGard).

Does anyone use this kind of software ? Where do you host it ?

I like EzPublish (http://developer.ez.no)

Some others include: phpwebsite, phpnuke (all versions nuke too) Search http://www.hotscripts.com for them. :)

You may want to try Zope.

You can better create one yourself, or let one created. Most of the time, standard scripts don't fit your needs: they have to little options, wrong features or to much features.

If you really want to get a standard one: do not go with PHP Nuke. It's one of the worst programmed script I saw in my life. It also has lot of security bugs.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Trust me, its a pain. I was working with Zope from the time it was started. Its good to start up with, but a major pain when you need to add more things or want to add your own stuff to it. I would stay as far as possible from it.

I also agree with RobbertC. Do not go with PHPnuke. Try postnuke (http://www.postnuke.com) instead.
I have been using it for a while and I love it!! :)

phpWebThings (http://www.phpdbform.com) is very nice. Easy to install and use, clean, and fairly comprehensive (without being bloated)

phpWebEngine (http://www.designdesires.co.uk/) is a nice simple script. Not a lot built in, but it's very clean and simple.

I think I expressed myself kinda in the wrong way :)

I'm looking for a Content Management System like OpenCMS, Midgard of OpenEffect.

These packages allow you to update and create multiple sites on a template base.

PHPNuke and PostNuke are portals that allow a little modification but not in the way Midgard does.

But thanks for the speedy replies !

EzPublish! :D
sorry, you guys didn't even (re)mention it!

It's DA best. It's meant to run a site NOT a portal. It does articles, static and dyanmic, image galleries, multimedia galleries, file manager, site config, sections manager etc.

this thing is insane! it's all built in TOGETHER. LIke the images i put into my articles as images, appear in the image gallery too if one likes is that way. you can also attach a great number of images with the articles. it rocks. :)

Maybe it's just me - I was trying to install it on my home machine (Win2000) to play with it before I install it on my server. I couldn't get anywhere with it so I just gave up.

playing with it myself right now. It's not hard to install if you have your ducks in a row first (modules, imagemagick, sym-links, etc)

It's a bit particular about what it wants around it, but once running is very nice. I'm working on templating it now to get rid of that ugly grey :)

I use WindozeXP /w Apache 'n PHP/MySQL... everything work but I can't find the way to use ImageMagick... Tell me how to make eZPublish use it.

I have ImageMagick here but dont' know what to do next. It always tell me "Failed to creat image variation"...

Help me with this...

BTW, do you think eZPublish is too slow? What about postNUKE speed compare to eZPublish. I know eZ have a good cache system, but in the ver224 it have problem. Plus, eZ creat too many cache file so it have to include file a lot, include file in some case even slower than do SQL query!

Not sure if this is what you want, but here is a app server + cms combo.
