There is a domain name that I want that was suppose
to expire yesterday. The whois info says the domain is
to expire on April 13th 2002. Today I checked and it still
shows as registered. I also checked deleted domains and
it does not come up as deleted OR on hold. When will this
domain expire or go on hold? What is the best way to go
about getting this domain name? I was thinking about
using ExpireFish. I don't have enough cash for Snap
Names. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A domain registration won't actually expire on the day listed. Usually the registrar has a grace period of some sorts. Then after they expire the domain, it can take several months for them to "release" the domain so that others may register it. Depending on the registrar you could be in for a long wait.

Registered at GoDaddy. How long is there release time?

I'm not sure that they have a scheduled hold time. Usually a domain will remain on hold at least 45 days. Up to a year with some.

namewinner.com is one option to consider.
they only charge you if and when they get the name for you. Although if it is a popular name, the bidding can get rather high.

expirefish may be a lot cheaper, but if there is intense competition for the name when it is dropped, in my experience they do not perform very well.
