I've come across VMDomain - www.vmdomain.com - which is out of Singapore (I think). I like what it has to offer, but wanted to know if anyone had heard of it, or heard any comments - good or bad. Thanks if you can help.

Hi Criosa,

Well,
if the host is situated in singapore, I would just like to clarify, that singapore hosts do not pay for bandwidth, it's really unlimited.

So it's really WYSIWYG.

Well even if their own pipe does not have a bandwidth limit on it, it will still be limited to a set speed (155mbits, for example). So that obviously limits how much data can be transferred in total.

Furthermore, no server can handle unlimited bandwidth due to hardware limitations. So if they really offer unlimited bandwidth, one single user could max out an entire server.

They are hosted in the Starhub Internet Data Center which has it's own Internet Exchange relatively Singapore has two, Starhub IX and Singtel IX! DO a search on Netcraft and you will see that they even host http://www.***.co.uk (PORN) --- Moderators, feel free to remove link above although I have put the asterixs already. I am a Singaporean and therefore I also know about these things since I also have my servers hosted in a small but reliable and in regard to speed, are just sweet!

I am fully aware of the connectivity in Singapore, and only yesterday read an article about the awesome network they are bringing in there.

But no matter how fast a link is, it is never unlimited. And that's ignoring my second point that no server would be able to handle that amount of traffic due to hardware limitations. So even if you got an unlimited megabytes per second pipe with unlimited data transfer for $1.41, the fact is that the server wouldn't be able to cope anyway.

How do you want me to answer this? Well... can i have the link to the article? Alright, Yea... the network infrastructure is one of the bests in Asia although I do not know much about the world.

Okay, the pipe line is unlimited is singapore. Please do understand that. I understand that US hosts who offer Unlimited Bandwidth are more of a fake impression but in Singapore most data centers offer Unlimited Bandwidth only a couple do not but the only one I can think of is: DigitalCentrix (National Computer Systems). That is about it

Most often, we do not count bandwidth anyway, why should we? Hmm... the server really depends. For my servers, I limit to only 100 per server since I offer huge web space packages and roughly from 200mb to 800mb only. I just find that if you have too many sites on what, the costs of upgrading the servers, maintaining them etc just add up to maybe the cost of getting one more server. I hope I have made my stand very clear to you.

Unlimited Data Transfer

We don't meter the amount of traffic you use. Unless your account compromises the performance of our network or server. That means no additional charges if you exceed your data transfer limit.

Note: To know whether your account will affect the performance of our network or server, please see the following measurements. These are only measurements! You will not be billed if you exceed it unless your account compromises the performance of our network or server.

Super Lite Plan = 1500 MB / Month

Lite Plan = 5000 MB / Month

Standard Plan = 10000 MB / Month

Plus Plan = 15000 MB / Month

Prime Plan = 20000 MB / Month

Supreme = 25000 MB / Month

I think that says it all, really (taken from clicking on the red * next to the word Unlimited Bandwidth on their comparisons page)
