I want to startup a mail-list bureau with mysql backbone where my clients store their email lists (and other necessary marketing info) on my server and then log-in to send out their newsletters, check on responses, etc.

What hosting solution would you suggest?Do I need a dedicated server or can I start with decent shared hosting and upscale later?

Well, that can be considered Mass Mailing, so you should read the TOS and User Agreement on the site the you decide to go with before signing up... as some hosts don't allow that.

I would suggest starting out with decent shared acount, or go semi-dedicated (meaning share a dedicated server with 3-4 other people). I think that site was vbulletinhosting.com.

Just to clarify my previous post that these email lists to be hosted for my clients are their own 100% opt-in lists and have ZERO to do with spamming or anything like that.I just want to make this clear.
