View Full Version : Wich US Merchant account???
Finally i was sick of nothing working with 3party processors like 2checkout or paysat, finally i got my own Tax ID and Us bank account, all that just to get a real Us merchant. Know that im ready after months, wich US real merchant is the best or is a got deal. Im not planning to use those that charge 40$ or 50$ monthly, since i dont process much anyway. There are some real merchants that are free of charge every month, they are higger % like 4% or 5% since they dont charge monthly but im glad to have one that charges the same like paysat or 2checkout but is a real merchant that lets me do batching and other stuff. Of course im looking for the cheapest one. I dont remember but i saw a real free merchant once with 4% fees it had tons of features i think it was from Wells Fargo. Modernbill has a real us merchant also for free. Important should be it transfer the money not by month but daily. Any suggestions ? The modernbill one wich i think is from bluepay, but you can only sell hosting with that not sure. Any good choices out there know that I have the same rights as Americans since with my Corp i can choose the services i dream of for years.
Thanks
cdgcommerce 10-05-2005, 01:54 PM You mention that you have a U.S. bank account and Tax ID, but do you also have a signer here in the U.S. as well?
A signer?
I opened a Corporation. The corporation does have its registered agent. I would open it with the Corp Tax ID, wich should be fine as far as i know. I did contacted CDG via mail but the mail bounced back, i investigating fees of merchant wich one would fit for starting processing.
RiskPayments 10-05-2005, 03:55 PM Unless there are special circumstances, most US merchant account providers require an owner with a SSN (US citizen) to sign for the account.
Corey Bryant 10-05-2005, 08:51 PM If you do not have a SSN, you are more then likely looking at a 4% discount rate with a 5-day ACH hold. You would more than likely be limited to $10,000 a month - but it all depends on where you are, etc.
I dont plan to have more than 1000$ sales a month, it would be great to have even 500$ a month. How can i get a US person to sign for me?
I was told this by Blue:
Yes, the US Agent's most important characteristics are their wilingness to represent your company and their SS#. These newer restrictions have become commonplace in the last year or so due to concerns about card security, terrorism and identity theft.
Hey, im not a terrorist, im a honest business man. I cant not believe how hard its to do business with the USA since 9/11. I have both german and spain passwords and citizenship. I have business where i go to most countries, why did Americans do things always the hard way? I think 9/11 did most damages not only for Us but for honest people like too. Papers and papers, documents and signs, im almost lost how hard it is to give money to the US. I made a Corporation wich includes to pay money to the US goverment in taxes even when not 1 single $ of my clients is from the US. I pay money to the US all the time and even like this business with Americans is so hard. Where do i get now a person to sign for me? Well im Latin america, Spain, Germany or any other country it would be so easy, but a US citizen .....
Its so hard to deal with US people that i think i will not ever in my life find a US person that will be willing to sign for my merchant account, you doubt about everything... I have all now to open a merchant account, but to find an honest american will be harder than to pay for everything i already paid. im really sad.
Thanks
cdgcommerce 10-07-2005, 12:14 AM I can understand that it is frustrating sometimes but all of us have a responsibility to abide by the laws of our respective countries and laws like the Patriot Act were enacted in part to prevent illegal money laundering - something which could otherwise be very easily done via credit card processing.
There are also many examples of merchant categories that are "automatic declines" with most banks largely due to the fraud and misdeeds done by a few major (bad) players in those areas... and thus, even legitimate merchants in those categories now have a very difficult time getting approved.
It would be nice to imagine a perfect world where these kinds of things don't happen but that is unfortunately just not the reality of the situation and so we all have to make the best of an (imperfect) scenario.
PS - What e-mail address did you try to contact us at? You had mentioned something about a bounced email so just wanted to verify that.
Corey Bryant 10-07-2005, 09:21 AM If it is just about $1,000 a month or so - consider using 2CO. They might be better off in the long run.
Using a person that is just a representative for your company might come back and bite you in the end. I have seen this before and yes it is difficult to find a US person to do something like you would like because they understand the value of their credit. And it is not worth it to most people to ruin their credit
I did saw some services for 100$ that they sign the SS-4 Form for your Tax ID. So for 100$ they fill you the SS-4 Form with their own SS#. Since in order to me to sign it i need a get an ITIN first wich takes longer to get. So maybe theres a similar service where you pay for an agent to sign for the merchant. Hope so. Im using 2CO actually right now, and it doesnt fit my needs, its not a real merchant and i want the services of a real one. Also 2CO is getting worst every day, when i started using it some years ago it was fine, but i need something more adjustable for recurring billings, things wich 3party vendors almost unsupport for shopping carts, also a real merchant is a lot more professional and serious.
Corey Bryant 10-07-2005, 03:05 PM The more things that you have for a US merchant account - of course the better. But you need at least a US bank account, a US address, and a US phone number / toll free number. The ITIN is extra and not really needed. The SSN is not needed either.
But you can get your own Tax ID number without going thru any service. There have been numerous merchants that received their own
Thats not true Corey Bryant. I do need an ITIN.
I have a US Address, US Phone (not toll free) and bank account i will have one when i get my EIN wich is required for a bank account. But on the bank im already approved i only need to send my EIN. I will tell you why you are wrong. For getting the EIN for the merchant or bank account (both wich require this for tax purposes) I need to fill the form SS-4. Wich is for getting the EIN over the phone calling the IRS in 10 minutes. Now the problem is this:
Due to the enforcement of the Patriot Act since the 911 crisis, either a SSN or an ITIN Number issued by the IRS is necessary when making an application to the IRS for the Federal Identification Number (EIN). A valid passport will no longer suffice.
So, for getting the EIN i need a ITIN. Of course after i get the ITIN i could use that for the bank or merchant as well, but then the tax return would go on my name wich i dont want. I hope this explains.
Also as far as i know so far, a US citizen with a valid SS# has to sign the merchant account. If you know any merchant account wich accepts a person with an ITIN instead please post. Actually mechants should let me sign with an ITIN because its the replacement for an SS but everybody has its own rules.
