Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated.

I am one of the domain owners that went through the fiasco with Scorpion over at Aletia Hosting and am looking for a new home for my domain. I've been browsing through these boards and have narrowed my choices down between Dreamhost's "Sweet Dreams" package and Site5's "Vantage" package.

http://www.dreamhost.com/comparison.html

Many of the threads about Dreamhost are from October or November when they weren't including CGI in all of their packages, so I thought I would start a new thread and get some new opinions. What are all of your experiences with these hosts (if you have had any)? There is a big difference with space included and a few other things, but both packages have the features I want.

Help is greatly appreciated!!!

Paradise Designs were doing an offer to salvage poor Aletia customers in the requests or offers forum...

I have only used DreamHost.com, but their services at the time were A+! They were actually one of the first hosts that started back in 1998. Their service and uptime were 100% and great back when I used them a while ago, and now that they have made their prices much cheaper, I would definitely go with them if I didn't already have a host which I like.

You wont find much about DreamHost here, because they arent like many of the recent hosts who just startup and have extremely low prices, cause a big hoopla, get lots of negative press, and then die, these folks have been there "forever" (in internet years).

If you actually do a search for them you will see a post I made a few months ago saying I thought you could find a better value somewhere else, but besides that I thought they were A+, now that they have lowered their prices a bit, I think they are all around a great value.

Good luck on your search, and hope Ive been able to help a bit.

We switched from Aletia to Site5 about... umm... a month and half ago, and they've been great so far. I'm having a wee bit of connectivity problems from Sweden, but other than that, nothing. Support rocks.

I switched from Aletia (scorpion) to site5's Apex plan about 2 weeks ago. All looks good so far.

I switched from Aletia to Insider Hosting (http://www.insiderhosting.com) about a week ago. I have not had a problem yet! Hopefully I won't be on here complaining about them in a year! ;)

You would find site5's features and pricing almost similar to Aletia...and they offer good support as well.

Not to mention it's quite a popular host around this board.

There are some exAletia users at those places I believe.

I've recommended them before, and will recommend them again, Site5 :)

Problems are few and far between with them, and if they're is ever a problem, they take responsibility and don't give you and BS.
