Hey guys, I just installed Cpanel on my freebsd 5.4-STABLE#7 server...
Heres the thing when it installed I already had mySQL Client but not server installed and for some reason I think cpanel skipped mysql-server install because it noticed the client...

Anyway so i just installed it myself no problem... just thought it was weird...

I grabbed the `latest` file from cpanel and it installed 10.6.0.... So I logged on to WHM and went to the update feature... But when I tried running update (to upgrade to 10.8.0) it would look like it freezes after scrolling a bunch of information... So I tried restarting the update, now it doesn't work anymore... I don't see any information now...

Also does cpanel try to install everything from ports? I made cpanel install mod_security but when I did `pkg_info` I don't see it installed...

Also is it possible to switch mail daemons from exim to postfix?

Looks to me like it tries to install via ports, which should also register in the pkg database and should show up under pkg_info. From what I can see it installs rsync from ports and updates perl fro ports if necessary. Then if the ports tree is out of date it uses rsync to update the ports tree. Then it grabs all the scripts from httpupdate.cpanel.net/cpanelsync/CURRENT-FREEBSD/scripts/ - it is really quite a complex build. No wonder they suggest starting from scratch on a clean install if the build fails.

It tries to install mysql-server from ports also, as well as exim and expect. Did you manage to do the original install without any problems ?

mod_security wouldnt be installed from ports.

Well I managed to fix most of the troubling problems only to find new ones...
I fixed the update issue but running /scripts/upcp
However I still am not sure if mod_security is installed since pkg_info doesn't report so but cpanel tells me its installed...

Whenever I delete accounts, cpanel still thinks they exist but of course cpanel won't be modify them because they don't.

Is it cpanel & freebsd 5.4 really this bug filled?? Or do you think it's because I installed after I played around with my server? (I updated to the latest 5.4-STABLE and didn't install cpanel from 5.4-RELEASE) Because I would just do a server reload but do not want to waste the time and money to do so if I will just end up getting the same results.
Maybe I should just reload the server with CentOS?

I have CPanel running great with FreeBSD 5.4. I updated to the latest before I installed it. Try a fresh reinstall and then update.

lumbyjj, what do you mean you updated to the latest before you installed it? You updated freebsd5.4-release to 5.4-stable before you installed cpanel and it was fine for you?

used the standard-supfile for cvsup and and ports-supfile.
