View Full Version : Free domains?
latheesan 09-30-2005, 05:51 PM Hello,
Firstly, im sorry if i posted the thread in the wrong place.
I was wondering if anyone know any other website like http://www.freedomain.co.nr who gives free domain names? these people give domains like http://yoursite.co.nr, but do you know any other websites that offer this kind of free domains, or more like subdomains?
many thanks in advance for any suggestions
best regards,
Lathee

www.dot.tk
www.********
latheesan 09-30-2005, 07:36 PM dot.tk has too many ads these days, are there any other ?
AnyDemo 10-01-2005, 11:40 PM Hello,
The best free domains should be .com.ru. I have registered many good .com.ru about five years ago for my customers. By that time almost any names you tried were available!
But since the price of .com has dropped drastically from $35 to a few dollars a few years ago, I no longer register free .com.ru for my customers.
dot.tk ads can be disabled through their cpanel.
http://www.eu.org (http://eu.org) provide free subdomain registration to users or non-profit organizations.
i used this great free service since 2003.
but i wait for a dns modification for spin.eu.org since the last week.
So if it's not for a critical web site, you could used this service.

Very nice service.. used for a years :)
Gerrit 10-03-2005, 04:47 PM EU.ORG is a damn great extention, but they never ever reply to emails. I wanted to know if they have expiries and if multiple domains per owner are allowed, but they never replied to my emails.
As for free domains, I have only had .TK and also .BE.TF which is a service that also provides domains such as .FR.ST, .FR.FM, ... No or little ads, no expiries, great helpdesk.
.DE.VU and .DA.RU also have many users. It seems .DA.RU and .BIZ.LY even let you use your own DNS so that you can create further sublevels and create email addresses @subdomain.da.ru
.DE.MS and .DE.PN are also existing, never used them so far.
.BE.TT, .US.TT and .UK.TT are provided by JoyNic.com but come with quite some ads.
Same goes for .********
.EU.KZ is rather new, I am not sure if they're any good.
.NL.NU should be very good I've heard: one euro only and no expiries. Allows you to let you use an own nameserver. The domain is registered until 2032, so you have your subdomain for at least 27 years for 1 euro only :)
I still doubt to register one though as the helpdesk never replies to emails.
.CO.TV is probably the subdomain provider with the best extention along with .EU.ORG
Not sure if co.tv is any stable or if they have expiries, email possibilities, etc
.TOTAGE.TK gets the price for worst extention :D
darkmax 10-03-2005, 07:28 PM www.ulimit.com
ex: www.you.t2u.com
But It has alot of ads like .tk :(
dmaven 10-03-2005, 09:07 PM Domain names are sooo cheap. You can get .info for under $2.00. Why not just spend the $2.00?
CHB-Hosting 10-03-2005, 09:57 PM Yup, go get one of your friends to donate 2 dollars onto your paypal account, and pay for your very own .info domain. Easy as that.
etechsupport2 10-04-2005, 12:16 PM Yes, open your wallet and pay for it, as a whole it costs money to the registrars to resell domain name as they have to pay ICANN for it or you can look for free domain with paid hosting packages.

this is probably much easier without the headache of trying to find a free domain name
xddesigns 10-04-2005, 10:13 PM namecheap.com had domain names for $2.88 each
chris_jon 10-05-2005, 02:11 AM Nothing in the world is for free!!!
If it is, there MUST be a catch.
Either you'll pay more when you renew your domain, or you MUST be a charity organization...etc.
Now-a-days, domain names are REALLY cheap, so pay for it & grab one.
It will save you a lot of worries later (as compared to the free domain providers).

Quite a few things ARE free on the Internet. Access to news sites. Access to information sites. Hotmail accounts. Yahoo accounts.
In the same vein there are people out there that offer free sub-domains - usually funded by other means such as advertising. The only real catch is that you are registering something under someone else's domain, and if they lost or give up that domain you have lost your sub-domain.
Do I need to say "uk.co"??? (And they weren't even free AFAIR...)

You are very right Lubeca. :)
However, really useful sites like Yahoo, Hotmail etc. are free for us because someone else pays for them (advertisers). Even the leading news site like CNN.com shows ads on their front page.
I guess the mother narure is the only one who provides us the most crucial life support elements for REALLY free.
dmaven 10-05-2005, 08:51 AM even if they gave it to you it is not free, you still have advertisements you need to deal with
Gerrit 10-05-2005, 04:24 PM Not per se. I don't think .eu.org and .biz.ly come with ads, I'm not sure about .co.tv and .co.nr
I would prefer paying 1 or 2 euro for a subdomain to experiment with, rather than getting it for free. For the sake of good support etc...
