I'm really thinking about designing a web host site soon, I even took the time to come up with an off the top of my head logo. The one thing I am not sure about is whether or not I should use Network or Networks in the logo. Personally, I'm not sure if I like this logo, but I am open to suggestions and criticisms. BTW, the logo will be for WPP.NET.

To much yellow. Get rid of some of it.

Sorry, I didn't fully explain. My logo's background isn't that large, I just added more background to get the full effect.

What about if I just keep the gray area and get rid of the rest? To me that would look a bit more professional. I always have the tendency to add extra junk that I never need.

what grey area?

oh u mean the 'NET', try just keeping the font and taking out the rest, coz u see, the smaller the logo the more better it is to make it 'simple' and not too much decorated.

my $0.02:

* Don't overlap the words "NET" and "WORKS", it looks too crowded.

* When you color a word two different colors (or use internal caps), it's a subtle hint that the observer should think about the meanings of the two words seperately as well as what they mean together. Is this what you're trying to do?

* When you make one part of the word bigger than another it emphasizes that part over the other one. Think about why you're emphasizing "NET". Perhaps you want to emphasize the "WORKS" (ie. "our solution works").

* The boxes around the letters WPP are a little distracting. Maybe make them a little lighter. Also, the fact that they are so far apart makes them harder to read.

* The color of the WPP text is incongrous. The phrase "out of left field" comes to mind.

* The "WORKS" text is a bit light. It tends to blend into the background. Especially when compared to the "NET" text.

* The background color is bold and attention grabbing. Good stuff.

* I like the border and the box. The overall shape will look really nice when you shrink it down and put it on a site.

my 2c, although the seond is an improvement on the first, I still think you have too many "icons/symbols" on one logo:
ie. the "O" bg, the fancy W (in WPP), the fancy type face for "WORKS", all add up to too many distracting elements.

My suggestion is to make one dominant over the others. eg. keep the fancy W and use the same type face (sans-serif) for NET+WORKS, you can still emphasize NET or WORK by font-weight/colours.

e.g this is in plain text, but at least you'll know what I mean:

W P P
NETWORKS
