Hello

I have a question and I will be very happy if anyone could answer.
I have been watching a registered domain to expire. The domain was supposed to expire in April, so I was using the snapnames.com to buy the domain as soon as its expire. However, I have just checked the domain again. The domain has just beed buyed by somebody else. How is that possible?. Are there faster services than snapnames.com?

thanks in advance

There are other services such as expirefish.com and namewinner that are competitors to snapnames. I usually use expirefish since they are much cheaper and just as effective.

there are a lot of services that are much faster than snapnames, but these are generally private speculators that do not offer expired name services to the public, they usually buy and sell domain names.

Snapnames is no guarantee of getting an expired domain. Occassionally they get lucky, but when their is intense competition, they often lose out. It may pay next time to better your odds by trying some of the other services as well, like namewinner and expirefish as ellew mentioned.

I am not quite sure but someone posted that there is another way to get a expired domain from Network Solutions (verisign) by calling and placing order over phone?

If you know what I am talking about, please share :) thx

Hello
It appears that Network Solutions is selling expired domains directly to third party companies.

have a look at http://www.waverleycare.com/
This domain belonged to http://www.waverleycare.org/
It expired and they failed to renew it but ti never became available to register.
It just seemed to be transfered very soon after expiry.
I also noticed this with register.com (see http://www.moredun.com/ similar situation)

OpenSRS domains just expire and become available (eventually)
so there is certainly some evidence that its possible to buy domain names from Netsol in order to get the traffic those domains still receive.

OpenSRS policy is to drop expired domains after 45 days.

NetSol apparently has no policy.

ICANN has no rules or even guidance for dropping expired names.

It's ugly.

thanks all of you

the domain I intented to buy was eturkey.com. Since I originally am from Turkey, it was very important to me. Some chinenese guys bought .
I have a few more domains that I am watching, but It seems to me from your answers that, as an individual, I do not have much chance to buy them.
thanks again

Some chinenese guys bought .

I seen them buy quite a few expired domain names and they use them to give their sites more traffic
